We’re very happy to announce that Discord Panel searches are now available on TRAC!
Discord is our first foray into the world of social chat-apps, and reinforces one of our key objectives for Pulsar 3.0 - broadening our Universal Scope and introducing a whole new kind of data to Pulsar.
What you can do with Discord data:
Track all the content posted on the channels you’re interested in, including reactions, within an owned Discord server.
Analyze the content for sentiment, emotion, language, entities, and more, just like any other data you collect on TRAC!
Analyze all the discussions taking place across all your Discord channels in one Feed view, with the ability to drill down into different channels to understand how conversations flow in your Discord server.
Connecting Pulsar TRAC to your Discord Server
Create a New Panels Search and select Discord as a Source
Click the link provided on the Discord Panel Box, or go HERE!
You’ll be prompted to add the PulsarBot to your server(s). Go ahead and do so now
Upon doing this, you can close this tab and navigate to your server settings on Discord
In server settings, there should be a tab called widgets. Here, you can find their server ID, which you can copy and paste into the server box to list the server’s available text channels
If you’d like to add more channels, simply repeat steps 2 through 5, or continue with setup if you’re done!
Discord is in Beta as a data source available for Panel searches, so if you see any issues, or would like to recommend any improvements as to how we can deliver more value from the source, then please don’t hesitate to give us a shout via the in-app chat intercom, or email product@pulsarplatform.com.
FAQs
Q: Do we get location data? How about Gender? Age?
A: Though location and age aren’t possible to obtain as profile information isn’t particularly public on discord, gender data is still obtained using our analysis as we do for our other sources, so you can still expect some demographic information
Q: How many reactions do we get?
A: You will be able to see up to the top 5 reactions and their totals on platform; however in export you will have a total single-sum number of all reactions available under the likes value.
Q: How do you handle replies?
A: Because replying to a message in discord is rather unique, we choose to count these as individual posts. However, replies to a thread, a unique post type message on discord, counts as an engagement, and will be treated as/counted as such
Q: Do we get historic data?
A: Since you are adding the bot directly to your server, we only get real time data. SO that means from the moment you add the bot onwards, we can collect data for your server. Prior to this no data will be available, due to the way discord’s API handles historical information in a server.
Q: How are Impressions Calculated?
A: Potential Impressions are based on the number of people on a server, which would be the potential number of people who could have seen a given message
