Follow these simple steps to pack, document, and ship medications with your RP Returns Kit.

📦 Step-by-Step Return Instructions


📥 1. Unpack the Kit Components

Your kit should include:

  • Return shipping box with prepaid UPS label

  • Clear plastic bag (for non-controlled medications)

  • Tamper-evident opaque bags (for DEA controlled substances)

  • Security seal tape

  • Instruction packet with Returns Manifest

Keep all components for use during the return.


📝 2. Returns Manifest Preparation

🧴 Non-Controlled Medications

  • Fill out the returns manifest (from the instructions packet).

  • Log in to the RP Returns Client Portal and document your inventory.

  • Sign and place a copy of the manifest inside the return box.

💊 Schedule III–V DEA Controlled Substances

  • Fill out the paper manifest.

  • Use the portal to create a Schedule Drug Inventory Form:

    • Select “New DEA Return”

    • Use “Add Detail” to input NDC, package size, and quantities.

  • Print two copies of the form—one goes in the box, and one for your records.

🧾 Schedule II DEA Controlled Substances

  • Log in to the portal and request a DEA Form 222.

  • Wait for it to be mailed to your registered address.

  • After completing the form:

    • Include the Schedule Drug Inventory Form in the box.

    • Do not include the DEA Form 222 in the shipment.

    • Email a scanned copy of the form to: dea.orderforms@usdoj.gov


📑 3. Packaging of Pharmaceuticals

  • Non-Controlled: Place inside the clear plastic bag.

  • Controlled Substances: Use the tamper-evident opaque bag.

  • Ensure:

    • No loose pills or sharps

    • Items are in original containers (or sealed plastic bags)

    • Liquids are wrapped to prevent leakage


🔐 4. Finalize Packing and Ship

  1. Insert:

    1. Bagged pharmaceuticals

    2. Signed returns manifest

  2. Close the box and apply the security seal tape.

  3. Drop it off at a UPS location or hand it to a UPS driver. (Shipping and processing are prepaid.)


📄 5. Access Reports Post-Return

After processing:

  • Log in to the portal to retrieve:

    • Certificate of Destruction

    • Customer-specific documentation
