First: stop trying to log in for 60 minutes. Every failed attempt or CAPTCHA restarts NinjaTrader's lockout timer, so repeated tries make the loop last longer.
Then work through this page in order. Most loops clear with the quick fixes. If you see a CAPTCHA on every login, skip straight to Step 2: the fastest fix is a fresh IP address, and we do that for you.
Step 1: Three quick fixes (5 minutes)
Close NinjaTrader completely first. Right-click the taskbar, open Task Manager, and end any NinjaTrader.exe processes.
Sync the clock. Right-click the clock in the bottom-right corner, choose Adjust date and time, turn on Set time automatically, then click Sync now. A wrong clock is the most common cause of login failures.
Flush DNS. Open the Start menu, type
cmd, right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator. Typeipconfig /flushdnsand press Enter.Tradovate accounts only: clear the CAPTCHA in a browser. Open a browser on the VPS, sign in at trader.tradovate.com, complete the CAPTCHA there, then close the browser.
Now open NinjaTrader and log in once. Connect your broker and prop accounts one at a time, waiting for each to connect before the next.
Step 2: CAPTCHA on every login? Ask us for a fresh IP address
If NinjaTrader asks for a CAPTCHA every time, or the quick fixes didn't help, the server's IP address has usually been flagged by NinjaTrader's login security. Nothing you do on the VPS will change that, so we move your server to a new IP address for you.
Your files, apps and settings are kept. This is a migration, not a reinstall.
It usually takes 15 to 60 minutes.
Your new IP address and Windows login appear in your QuantVPS dashboard afterwards.
Update anything tied to the old IP address, such as IP whitelists.
How to request it
Save your work and close NinjaTrader and other apps.
Click Start, then the Power icon, then Shut down. Don't choose Restart or just close the Remote Desktop window.
Wait 2 to 5 minutes for Windows to power off.
Open a support ticket titled "NinjaTrader CAPTCHA: new IP please" and say the server is shut down.
Step 3 (optional): Reset NinjaTrader's device trust yourself
If you'd rather try this before asking for a new IP address, it clears a stale login session on NinjaTrader's side. Do it with NinjaTrader fully closed.
Sign in to the NinjaTrader web dashboard in a browser. In your security settings, remove all trusted devices, then turn two-factor authentication off and on again.
On the VPS, open
Documents\NinjaTrader 8\. Delete thecachefolder, and renameNinjaTrader.sqlitetoNinjaTrader.sqlite.bak(NinjaTrader rebuilds both; the .bak file is your backup).Restart Windows (Start > Power > Restart), open NinjaTrader, log in and approve the two-factor prompt.
When you contact support
Tell us which steps you've tried and the exact error message. A screenshot helps. NinjaTrader's own guide is here: Common Causes of Login Issues.
