Important: Make sure Multi-Provider Mode is enabled in NinjaTrader before connecting your broker or data feed.
Connecting to Your Tradovate Prop Firm Account
From the Control Center of NinjaTrader Desktop, select Connections and then configure:
From the Connections Configuration window, double-click NinjaTrader from the Available menu. You will then see My NinjaTrader populated in the Configured menu.
Enter your username and password provided by Apex Trader Funding. Select Simulation as the Account Type:
Tips and Notes
If you do not see configure in the Connections drop-down, you will need to enable Multi-provider Mode using these steps.
If you would like NinjaTrader Desktop to connect to your Apex Trader Funding account automatically when it loads, click the check box next to Connect on start up in the Connections Configuration window.
Apex usernames with an underscore in their name (example: Apex_123456) are Tradovate-based. Apex usernames with a hypen in their name (example: Apex-123456) are Rithmic-based and will need to use this Rithmic Apex Connection Guide to connect on NinjaTrader Desktop instead.
⚠️ Common Connection Errors (e.g., “Logon Failed”)
If you see an error such as:
“PropFirm: Please check your account connection parameters and internet connection. (Logon failed)”
Try these troubleshooting steps:
Verify Account Type:
For Tradovate-based prop firms (Apex, Bulenox, TakeProfit, etc.), the Account Type must be Simulation — not Live or NinjaTrader Brokerage.
Go to Connections → Configure → NinjaTrader → Account Type → Simulation.
Double-Check Credentials:
Use the exact Tradovate username and password provided by your prop firm.
Avoid copying spaces or extra characters.
Ensure Multi-Provider Mode is Enabled:
Navigate to Tools → Options → General → Multi-Provider Mode → ✅ Check.
Restart NinjaTrader afterward.
Sync the Windows clock (fixes Tradovate “logon failed” when time is off)
Open Settings → Time & language → Date & time.
Turn on Set time automatically (and Set time zone automatically if appropriate).
Click Sync now.
Confirm the clock updates, then retry the Tradovate connection.
Restart NinjaTrader & Try Again:
Fully close NinjaTrader, reopen, and reconnect to your account.
🔎 Most Tradovate login issues are caused by incorrect credentials, wrong system selection, or Multi-Provider Mode not being enabled.
