How do I add business use to my policy?

You can add business use to your car insurance policy if you need it.

How business use cover works

Commuting use covers work-related travel in addition to social, domestic and pleasure, but if you travel to more than one place of work (for example, you're an estate agent and you use your vehicle to visit different offices/locations), you'll need to add business use to your policy. Your employer will usually tell you if it's required for your role.

Named drivers on your policy are not covered for business use; this cover is only for the policyholder.

How do I know if I already have it?

If business use is included, you'll see it in your documents in the app: in the statement of insurance and policy schedule. It's in bold text under 'permitted use'.

What you need for updating your policy to business use

To update your policy for business use, you'll need to give us:

  1. Date you require business use from

  2. Confirmation that all other policy details are accurate

  3. If you're starting a new job, we'll need the start date, occupation type, industry, whether it's a full or part time role and any other occupations if any

Costs and fees

  • The cost of adding business use varies based on your policy details

  • You'll pay a fee for making your change

  • If you choose to pay via monthly instalments, the cost will be spread across your remaining payments

What's not covered by business use

  • We don't cover delivery driving jobs, such as Amazon Flex. If you plan to use your vehicle for delivery driving, you'll need to cancel your policy with us.

  • Business use can't be added for named drivers on your policy.
