Why Do I Need To Add A Physical Address Before Sending Marketing Emails?

Updated this week

Every marketing email you send through Rally.Fan—whether it’s an Email Flow or a one-time Broadcast—must include a valid, physical business address. We block the “Send” button until you’ve added one.

Here’s why that rule exists and how to add your address in under a minute.

The Legal Stuff (Plain-English Version)

Law / Region

Key Requirement

What Happens If You Ignore It

CAN-SPAM Act (USA)

Commercial emails must display a physical address.

Fines up to $51,744 per email.

GDPR (EU/EEA & UK)

Senders must be clearly identifiable; address is standard practice.

Penalties up to €20 million or 4 % of global revenue.

CASL (Canada) & others

Similar “identify the sender” rules.

Heavy fines and mail-server blacklisting.

Bottom line: the address requirement isn’t a Rally quirk—it’s global anti-spam law. Including it proves you’re a real business, boosts deliverability, and keeps both of us out of legal hot water.

Where the Address Appears

Rally automatically injects your business address into the email footer (small font, unobtrusive). You can’t remove it, but you can:

  • Use a PO Box, UPS Store box, or virtual office if you work from home.

  • Update it any time your business moves (takes effect on the next send).

Add or Update Your Address

  1. Dashboard → Settings → Email Identity

  2. Enter your Company Name and Physical Address (street, city, state/province, postal code, country).

  3. Click Save. You’re good to go—“Send” is now unlocked.

Tip: Double-check spelling; typos here show up in every footer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I use my home address?
Yes, but many creators prefer a PO Box for privacy. Any address that can receive mail works.

  2. Will subscribers actually see this?
Yes, but it’s tiny and tucked away in the footer—standard for every legit marketing email you receive.

  3. What if I’m a digital-only, nomad business?
Use a virtual mailbox service (e.g., Anytime Mailbox, iPostal1). They provide a real street address and mail forwarding.

  4. Do transactional emails need an address, too?
No. Order confirmations and receipts are covered by a different set of rules, and Rally handles those footers automatically.
