How Does the Connections Page Work

Learn what the Connections page is, why every client needs their Xero account connected, and how to use it.

What is the Connections page?

The Connections page is where you connect your clients' Xero accounts to Rechargly. You can find it by navigating to Recharges > Connections in your Rechargly dashboard.

This page is separate from the Integrations page, which is where you connect your own firm's Xero account. The Connections page is specifically for linking each of your clients' Xero files.

Do all clients need to be connected?

Yes. Every client you want to recharge must have their Xero account connected through the Connections page. Rechargly needs access to each client's Xero file to:

  • Determine the correct tax rate based on the client's country location

  • Improve the accuracy of recharging calculations by cross-referencing data from the software vendor, your firm, and the client's accounting software

  • Ensure each recharge is appropriate and compliant with legal standards

  • Provide firm-level benchmarking and insights on software you can recharge

Without a connection, it impacts Rechargly's ability to run the entire workflow.

How to connect a client's Xero account

  1. Navigate to the Connections page in your Rechargly dashboard.

  2. Select Connect to add an individual client.

  3. Follow the prompts to authorise the Xero account connection.

  4. Once connected, the page will display the connection status and date, which should show as Active.

Bulk connections

If you are setting up multiple clients at once, you can use the bulk connection option on the Connections page. This allows you to add several client Xero accounts in one go, which is particularly useful during initial onboarding.

Connections page vs Integrations page

  • Integrations page β€” connects your firm's own Xero account to Rechargly (found under Settings > Integrations)

  • Connections page β€” connects each of your clients' Xero accounts to Rechargly (found under Recharges > Connections)

Both are required. Your firm's Xero connection handles invoicing and reconciliation at the firm level, while client connections provide the data needed for accurate recharging.
