Phone or Reeplayer Camera: which should I use?

A quick guide to picking the right one for your game.

Written by Team Reeplayer

This article is about phone streaming and how it fits with the Reeplayer Camera. For camera help, see Which sports does Reeplayer support?.

Both stream live. A phone covers courts and small fields. The Reeplayer Camera covers all of those too, plus full-size fields, with AI that follows the play.

Great on a phone

  • Basketball

  • Volleyball

  • Futsal and small-sided soccer, up to 5v5

  • Pickleball and tennis

  • Chess, gymnastics, cheer and dance

  • Practices and drills

The Reeplayer Camera does all of that, plus

  • Full-size soccer, 9v9 and 11v11

  • Full-field flag football

  • American football

  • Hockey

On courts and small fields, a phone gives you one steady view. The Reeplayer Camera adds AI that follows the play and zooms in on the action.

Can I still stream a big field from my phone?

You can. Just know it's one fixed view, so some of the play may fall outside the frame. The Reeplayer Camera's AI follows the action across the whole field, with nobody running it.

Other reasons to pick the camera

  • It handles long days outside in heat, cold or rain.

  • Your phone stays free to cheer, text and take photos.

  • One camera covers many teams, season after season.

Already have a camera? Your phone is a great sidekick for the second team's game, or when the camera is on another field.
