Getting Started

Address Verification: A postcard with instructions will be mailed to your charity’s IRS address.
Telephone Verification: A phone call with an authorization code will be sent to the phone number on your organization’s 990 form.
Via Grant Check: If you’ve received a grant, your check includes onboarding instructions and a registration code to sign in to the Charity Portal.
Register by Claiming
To begin, charities can go to https://charities.rengiving.com and search for the correct organization.
Select ‘Claim’:
Choose either Address or Telephone verification.Complete Verification:
Address Verification: Confirm the recipient and zip code of the letter.
Telephone Verification: Ensure your organization e-filed its last 990, a phone number is on file, and you have access to it.
Update Information:
If needed, update your address with the IRS before claiming.
Address Verification:
You will be asked to confirm who we are sending the letter to and the zip code for your organization's IRS filed address.
If the ‘Claim’ has a checkmark and says ‘Claimed’, this means that someone else has already attempted a claim in the past 3 weeks.
Once you claim your Charity Page, a pop-up will occur explaining a postcard will be sent helping us securely verify your organization.
Please note that the postcard can take up to 2 weeks to arrive via standard USPS mail. Here is an example of what the postcard will look like:
Telephone Verification:
To verify via telephone three circumstances need to be true:
your organization e-filed their last 990
a phone number was provided on that most recent 990 filing (not a required field)
you have access to the phone number used in the filing
If any of these are not true, you will receive an error message when attempting the telephone verification process.
The prompt will ask you to confirm the phone number that is listed in your organization's 990 filings with the IRS. It will show you the last 4 digits to assist if your organization has multiple affiliated phone numbers.
The call will state it has a verification code for Ren for Charities and request you press a number to confirm hearing the confirmation code. It will then list off the verification code for you slowly.
Enter the information into the code box and select 'Submit' when done.
When successful follow the link to onboard now.

View Donors and Grants
Dashboard
The Dashboard allows you to watch your charitable giving grow! Over time this dashboard will update with the total number of Donors, Dollars Granted, and the total number of Grants.
The two most popular views are ‘Grants’ and ‘Donors.’ These two areas help charities obtain Donor and Grant information for the Grants received from our affiliated donor-advised fund programs.
Grants
The Grants report shows the information the donor opted to share with your organization. This report allows you to match the payment (Check/ACH) received with the specific grant as well as to access the Purpose, Donor, Acknowledgement, and Dedication info so you can comply with the appropriate use of the funds and recognize your donors for their gift. This data can be exported to add into a general ledger and/or donor management software.
Donors
The Donors view within the portal quickly shares the donor name, location, and email. When you export the report, it will also include their full address.
This vital information will help you get to know your donors, along with providing the information needed to have a successful donor acknowledgment campaign. This data can easily be exported and then imported into your donor management software.
Profile
The Profile section allows for updating charity information such as Display Name (which will update the entire site with the new name), Mission, Address, Logo, and more.
Charity Settings
In Charity Settings you can manage your payment method options, email notifications, and invite other admins from your organization to access the page.
ACH Enrollment
Ren for Charities is now offering ACH enrollment! Charities that enroll will receive funds faster and with less administrative overhead.
On the Charity Dashboard select ‘Unlock’ or click on ‘Charity Settings’ and then ‘Link Bank Account’
You will be given several options to move forward: Plaid, our 3rd party integration, Zelle Connection, an ability to enter bank information to connect ACH manually, or a contact us form, in case you are still unable to connect with either of the previous options.
Connect with Plaid
Plaid is the recommended path at this time, but we understand not all banking institutions work with Plaid. Plaid is a secure 3rd party financial technology company that we use to enable charitable organization administrators to safely link their bank accounts. Plaid is trusted by leading financial institutions all over the world to safely facilitate the authentication of bank details.
The API will walk you through their entire registration process, which is quick and easy. If your bank is not affiliated with Plaid, you will receive a notification to let you know how you can encourage your bank to sign up. If your bank is affiliated with Plaid, you should see a successful processing message when complete.
Connect Via Zelle
You can enter banking details.
After submitting either claim option, your request will go into a queue for approval from our charity vetting. You will receive an email when approved or rejected.
