Blended Strategy - Klaviyo

How to email contacts in your regular campaigns

Use this strategy when you already send 3 or more campaigns per week and want to include contacts in your existing email program.

With the Blended strategy, contacts are included directly in your normal campaign sends. There is no separate flow or dedicated sequence, your existing cadence does the work.

When to use this strategy

This is a good fit if:

  • You already send campaigns at least 3 times a week

  • You want the simplest setup

What this strategy does

With Blended:

  • Contacts are included in your next campaign send

  • They are emailed alongside your existing audience

  • Your normal sending cadence drives engagement

This works because consistent campaign volume gives contacts repeated exposure without requiring additional setup.

Before you begin

In Klaviyo, you should see:

  • Retention list (where all contacts live)

  • Warm [Retention] segment

  • Cold [Retention] segment

All contacts are added to the Retention list.

Segments determine who you actually send to.

Step 1: Confirm this is the right fit

Use Blended if:

  • You send 3+ campaigns per week

  • You want contacts included in your existing sends

If you do not send frequently enough, consider using the Dedicated Flow strategy-Klaviyo.

Step 2: Add contacts to your campaigns

When scheduling future campaigns:

  • In the Send to audience, include the Warm [Retention] segment

  • In the Don't send to audience, include the Cold [Retention] segment

This ensures contacts are included safely while protecting performance.

Do not send these contacts separate campaigns. Instead, include them in the same campaigns as your existing audience.

Good campaign types include:

  • Promotions

  • Newsletters

  • Product launches

  • Best-sellers

  • Educational content

  • Seasonal campaigns

What success looks like

This strategy is working when:

  • Contacts are included in campaigns quickly

  • They continue receiving emails consistently

  • Your sending cadence stays strong

  • Unengaged contacts are filtered out

The strength of this strategy is simplicity.
