How to set up Ongoing in Returbo

A guide on how to set up Ongoing in the Returbo app and what steps you need to follow to get started with Ongoing.

1. Check requirements before connecting Ongoing WMS

Before connecting Ongoing WMS to Returbo, make sure the following requirements are met.

Requirement 1: Shipping carriers enabled

You must have at least one shipping carrier enabled in Returbo before setting up the Ongoing integration.

To activate shipping carriers:

  1. Open the Returbo app

  2. Go to Settings → Integrations → Shipping

  3. Enable at least one shipping carrier

Once a shipping carrier is enabled, you can continue with the Ongoing WMS setup.

Requirement 2: All products must have SKUs

All products in your inventory must have SKU codes.

Returbo uses SKUs to match products with Ongoing WMS. If a product does not have a SKU, it cannot be matched with the corresponding product in Ongoing.

How to add SKUs to products in bulk

  1. Go to Products in the left-hand menu

  2. Select all products you want to update

  3. Click Bulk edit. A new window will open.

  4. In the upper-right corner, click Columns

  5. Search for SKU

  6. Enable the SKU column

You can now add or update SKUs for all selected products.

Important:

  • Every SKU must be unique

SKUs must exactly match the SKUs used in Ongoing WMS.

Requirement 3: Ongoing app installed in Shopify

You must have the Ongoing WMS app installed and set up in your Shopify store.

If the app is not installed, Returbo will not be able to communicate with Ongoing.

  1. Open the Shopify App Store

  2. Install the Ongoing WMS app

  3. Complete the setup inside Shopify and the Ongoing app.

You can find the app here: https://apps.shopify.com/ongoing-wms

Requirement 4: Disable orders returned to Ongoing

To avoid conflicts between Returbo and Ongoing when processing returns, you must ensure that the following setting is disabled in the Ongoing WMS Shopify app:

“Send information about an order being returned in Ongoing WMS.”

If this setting is enabled, both Returbo and Ongoing may attempt to handle returns, which can cause inconsistencies.

How to disable the setting

Requirement 5: Disable scheduled return of return orders

Ensure that the following setting is disabled in the Ongoing WMS Shopify app:

“Schedule return of return orders”

This setting must be turned off to prevent conflicts between Returbo and Ongoing when processing returns.

How to disable the setting

Requirement 6: Set automatic return tracking to manual

When using Ongoing WMS, Returbo will not track return packages via shipping carriers. Instead, returns are marked as received based on Ongoing’s own system.

To ensure this works correctly, automatic return tracking must be set to manual in Returbo.

How to update the setting

  1. Open the Returbo app

  2. Go to Settings → Integrations

  3. Find Automatic return tracking

  4. Select:

“I want to manually mark items as received”

This ensures Returbo and Ongoing stay in sync when processing returns.

2. Connect Ongoing WMS in Returbo

To connect Returbo with your Ongoing WMS, you need to add your Ongoing credentials in Returbo.

Step 1: Open the integration settings

  1. Open the Returbo app

  2. Go to Settings → WMS Integrations

  3. Select Ongoing

Step 2: Fill in your Ongoing credentials

Fill in the fields as follows:

  • Username
This is the same username you use to log in to Ongoing WMS.

  • Password
This is the same password you use to log in to Ongoing WMS.

  • Warehouse name
The name of the warehouse as it is registered in Ongoing
    (for example: Returbo Logistics AB).

  • Goods Owner ID
The Goods Owner ID from Ongoing. This is a numeric value.

  • Order Suffix (optional)
An order suffix that is added to your order number.
This is commonly used when working with a warehouse or third‑party logistics provider (3PL), as multiple customers may have similar order numbers.
If your warehouse uses an order suffix, enter it here.

Step 3: Where to find this information in Ongoing

To find your username and goods owner ID:

  1. Log in to Ongoing WMS

  2. Go to Administration

Here you can see:

  • Your username

  • The goods owner ID

Step 4: Save

Once all fields are filled in, click Save.
Returbo will then connect to your Ongoing WMS.

Important note for 3PL customers

If you are using a third‑party logistics provider (3PL), you may not have access to all of these settings in Ongoing.

In this case:

  • Contact your warehouse / 3PL contact person

  • Ask them to provide the required information and help set up the integration

We strongly recommend that you email your 3PL and CC Returbo support, so we can assist and join a meeting if needed:
