If you've ever wondered, "how do I know when a returned item has actually arrived at my warehouse, and how do requests move from Incoming to Pending Approval on their own?", this guide explains exactly how Returbo's automatic returns tracking works.
This setting is available on Plus, Premium, and Enterprise plans.
What Automatic Returns Tracking Does
Automatic returns tracking is a setting in Returbo that saves you from manually marking every return as received. Instead, Returbo does it for you.
When this setting is turned on, Returbo automatically marks a return as received once it arrives at your warehouse, and moves the request from Incoming to Pending Approval without you having to lift a finger.
If you'd rather handle this yourself, you can choose I want to manually mark items as received instead. With this option, you'll need to update the request status once the return arrives.
How Returbo Knows When a Return Has Arrived
How Returbo detects arrival depends on how your store is set up:
How tracking works: Returbo tracks the shipping carrier's status. Once the carrier marks the parcel as delivered, Returbo automatically moves the request from Incoming to Pending Approval.
If you use the Ongoing WMS integration: Returbo instead relies on your warehouse marking the item as arrived in Ongoing, rather than the shipping carrier's delivery status.
If You Use the Ongoing Integration
If your store uses the Ongoing WMS integration, automatic returns tracking should always be turned off. Ongoing determines arrival based on your warehouse marking the item as arrived, not the shipping carrier's delivery status, so this setting isn't the right fit for Ongoing stores.
How to Turn Automatic Returns Tracking On or Off
Go to Settings > Integration > Shipping.
Under Automatic returns tracking, choose either:
Enable automatic returns tracking, or
I want to manually mark items as received
How to mark an request as received manually
To mark a return as received manually, open the request in the Returbo Dashboard while it's still in Incoming status, and click I have received it.
Even if you have automatic returns tracking turned on, you'll still see this option on the request. It's there as a backup, so if the automatic tracking doesn't pick up the delivery, you can mark it as received yourself.
