Aside from earning gamification units, badges provide another way to encourage engagement in your community. Awarded for specific tasks, badges directly incentivize members to complete actions aligned with your goals while giving them a visible token of recognition.

There are two types of badges you can create:

  • Automated Badges: Automatically assigned when users complete specific community missions or tasks.

  • Custom Badges: Tailored for unique or off-platform achievements that require manual approval by a moderator.

Creating Badges

To set up community badges, go to the 'Badges' tab in your gamification settings and click "Add a new badge." A pop-up modal will appear.

First, choose an action from the "Choose an action" dropdown menu. All options except "Custom" are Automated Badges:

  • Custom: Create a custom badge tailored to specific needs.

  • Total Messages Sent: Awarded for reaching a certain number of messages sent.

  • Total Replies Sent: Awarded for reaching a certain number of replies sent.

  • Total Reactions Sent: Awarded for reaching a certain number of reactions sent.

  • Refer Friends: Awarded when a user refers a certain number of new users.

  • Daily Visit Streak: Awarded for consistent daily visits over a set period.

Automated Badges

Once you've selected your action, specify the quantity between 0 ~ 999 needed to trigger the badge. For example, if you choose "Total Replies Sent" and set the quantity to 100, members who send 100 replies will automatically receive the badge.

Custom Badges

When choosing a custom action, you can describe the task members need to complete. Examples include following your brand on all social media accounts or achieving a certain rank on a client platform. If you want members to submit proof, such as screenshots or files, toggle on the "Require Attachments" option. This ensures that members can't submit badge requests without the necessary proof.

Give your badge a meaningful name and choose an image that best represents the achievement. A well-designed badge will make members feel proud and motivate others to participate. If you want different badge images for light and dark modes, toggle on "Enable Dark and Light Mode Badges" and upload the appropriate images for each mode. This ensures the badge will look great regardless of the user's theme preference.

Gamification units can be tied to badge achievements, rewarding users with gamification units (XP or Coins) when they earn specific badges. This enhances the value of badges by adding tangible rewards, making them even more enticing for community members to earn and strive for. To enable unit rewards, simply toggle on the respective option and specify the amount of units to be rewarded for each badge.

Once you've filled in all the necessary information, click on 'Create' and save your changes!

Display Options

Similar to Tiers and Levels, badges can also be configured to display in your community channels. When enabled, the 3 display badges chosen by members will be shown beside their name in your community, as shown below

To enable channel display for tiers and levels, simply toggle on the respective option in your badge settings.

Once your badges have been created, they will be displayed to all community members on their badge page. Here, members can track their progress on automated badges, apply for custom badges, and configure which badges they want to display.

Badge Management

To manage your community members' badges or handle badge requests, navigate to the Badge Management page in your community settings.

Here, you'll find a comprehensive list of all members. Clicking the pencil icon next to a user allows you to assign a new badge or remove an existing one.

This feature is helpful for:

  • Revoking limited-time badges.

  • Correcting badges assigned in error.

  • Manually assigning badges without requiring members to apply.

To handle badge requests, navigate to your Badge Management tab. Here, you can review members' attachments and any messages left for your admins. From this page, you can choose to approve or reject their badge requests. When rejecting a badge request, you can provide a rejection reason. This message will be shown to the user, helping them understand why their request was declined.
