Admin - How do I add, copy or move a question in my form?

For admins building a submission or evaluation form: how to add a question, make it required, and move or copy it anywhere in the same form.

Use the Form Editor to add questions to your form, make them required, and copy or move them anywhere in the same form. This works the same way on submission and evaluation forms. To open the Form Editor, go to Forms › Forms and click the pencil-and-box icon (edit) next to the form.

Add a question

  1. Click the green Add Question button in the upper-right corner. Or hover over an existing question and click + above or below it to add the new question in that spot.

  2. Click a question type to see its description and a preview, then click Ok. For what each type does, see Understanding Form Question Types.

  3. In the question editor, enter the question prompt and fill in the settings for that type, such as the options for a multiple-choice question or the start and end dates for a date question.

  4. Click Save.

Important: Clicking Cancel in a new question's editor discards the question entirely. Click Save to keep it.

Make a question required

  1. In the question editor, check Required.

  2. Optionally, change the required message submitters see if they leave the question blank.

  3. Click Save.

If you later hide a required question with a visibility condition, uncheck Required first.

Move a question

Hover over the question you want to move.

  • Arrows: click the up or down arrow to move the question one spot per click. The arrows only appear when the question isn't the first or last in the form.

  • Cut and Paste: to move a question further, or to another page, click Cut (scissors icon). A grey box marks the question and a dialog shows what you cut. Go to the new spot and click Paste above or below an existing question.

Copy a question

  1. Hover over the question and click Copy. The copy keeps all of the question's text, options, settings and visibility conditions.

  2. A grey box marks the question and a dialog shows what you copied.

  3. Go to where you want the copy, on any page of the same form, and click Paste above or below an existing question. The new question's title ends in "(Copy)".

  4. To add more copies, paste again. When you're done, click Clear.

  5. Edit the new question to remove "(Copy)" from its title.

Cut and Copy only work within the same form. You can't paste a question into a different form.
