This guide shows you how to connect your Google Analytics account to your Aloha AI Website so you can track how visitors are using your site. You'll learn how to find your special tracking ID and add it to your website settings.

✨ When You Need This Guide

This guide is for you if you're an Aloha user who wants to:

  • Add Google Analytics to your AI-generated website.

  • Understand how to track visitor behavior on your site.

  • Find out what a "tracking ID" is and where to put it.

  • Learn about which events (like form submissions or clicks) you can track automatically.

  • Set up custom tracking for specific actions.

What This Covers (And What It Doesn't)

  • βœ… This covers: Connecting your Google Analytics account, understanding the types of events that are tracked, and how to set up basic and custom events.

  • ❌ This doesn't cover: Advanced SEO topics, a general overview of the AI websites, or how to use the Google Analytics reporting interface in detail.

Prerequisites/You'll Need:

  • An active Google Analytics account.

  • Access to your Aloha Website Settings.

βœ… Connect Google Analytics to Your AI Website

To start tracking your website traffic, you first need to get your unique tracking ID from Google Analytics and add it to your Aloha website settings.

    1. Go to your Google Analytics and sign in.

    2. Click the Admin gear icon in the bottom-left corner.

    3. In the "Property Settings" column, click Data streams.

    4. Select your data stream. If you don't have one, you will need to create it first.

    5. In the Google tag section at the bottom of the Web stream details page, click View tag instructions.

    6. On the Installation instructions page, click install manually.

    7. Your tracking ID will be displayed at the top right, starting with "<!-- Global tag (gtag.js) -->".

    8. Click the copy icon next to it to save the ID.

  1. Add the Tracking ID to Your Aloha Website

    1. In your Aloha account, navigate to Website Settings.

    2. Click the Integration Settings tab.

    3. Scroll down to the bottom and find the Google Analytics field.

    4. Paste the "G-" code you copied into the "Google Analytics Tracking ID" field.

    5. Click X on the top right.

    6. Save to apply your changes.

  2. See What's Automatically Tracked

    1. Once you save your settings, the tracking script is automatically added to every page of your site. This allows Google to start tracking important information right away, such as page views, how many people visited your site for the first time, and how long they stayed.

βœ… Set Up Event Tracking

Events are actions that users take on your website, like clicking a button or filling out a form. After you connect your accounts, some events are tracked automatically, while others you can enable or create yourself.

Automatic Events (No Setup Needed):

  • Page views: When someone visits a page on your site.

  • First visit: The very first time someone comes to your site.

  • Session start: When a user begins a new browsing session.

  • User engagement: When users are actively interacting with your content.

Enhanced Measurement Events (Optional):

You can easily turn on these extra events in your Google Analytics settings:

  • Go to Admin > Data Streams in Google Analytics.

  • Click your web stream.

  • Click Enhanced measurement and toggle on the events you want to track, like "Scroll tracking" or "File downloads."

Custom Events (For Your Practice):

For important actions like appointment bookings, you can create your own custom events:

  • In Google Analytics, go to Admin > Data display > Events.

  • Click Create event.

  • Name your event (e.g., appointment_booking or contact_form_submit).

  • Set the conditions for when the event should trigger.

  • Click Save.

Common Events to Track for Healthcare Practices
Consider setting up tracking for these important user actions:

  • Appointment booking form submissions

  • Contact form completions

  • Phone number clicks

  • Directions/location clicks

  • Service page views

  • Insurance information downloads

  • New patient form starts

πŸ’‘ Common Questions

What You Might Notice

Why It's Happening

What to Do

Your website data isn't showing up in Google Analytics.

It can take some time for Google to process the data, especially the first time. The information is not always instant.

Wait at least 24-48 hours. If it's still not working, double-check that you entered the correct "G-" tracking ID in your Aloha Website Settings and saved your changes.

You can't find the events you've set up in Google Analytics.

You can find your events under Reports or you may need to create a new one.

Click Here for steps on how to find the reports you have made or here to learn how to add a report.

The events seem to be tracking the wrong actions.

Your event names might be too broad or the conditions for triggering them are incorrect.

Use descriptive event names like appointment_form_submission instead of just form_submit. Test your events using Google Analytics' DebugView to make sure they are firing when you expect them to.

πŸŽ‰ You'll Know It's Working When:

  • You see your website traffic data (like visitors and page views) appear in your Google Analytics reports.

  • You are able to see events, such as first_visit or scroll, in your event reports.

  • You can track important actions, like form submissions or phone clicks, as events.

  • You can view real-time data from your website in your Google Analytics account.
