A guide on how to automatically redirect patients to any external page (like a payment portal, new patient forms, or a "thank you" page) immediately after they schedule an appointment online.

✨ When You Need This Guide

This guide is for you if you want to streamline your payment process or update what patients see after they complete their booking. Use this if:

  • You want to new patients to pay for their visit when they book online.

  • You want to direct patients to a page where they can add a credit card to their file before their appointment.

  • You need to automatically forward patients to any external webpage with additional information after they complete their booking.

How It Works

This feature allows you to set a "Redirect Link" in your online scheduler. After a patient successfully confirms their appointment, the system will automatically send their browser to the URL you specify, such as your payment portal.

What This Covers (And What It Doesn't)

  • ✅ This article explains how to set a redirect link in your Aloha Online Scheduler.

  • ❌ It does not cover how to create the external pages (e.g., payment portals, new website pages, etc.) that you want to redirect to. You must have that page and its URL ready before you begin.

You'll Need:

  • The full, public URL of the page you want to send patients to.

✅ Setting Up Your Post-Booking Redirect

  1. Get Your Destination Page URL. Before starting, go to the webpage you want to send patients to (your payment portal, What to Expect Next page, etc.) and copy its full URL from your browser's address bar.

  2. Navigate to Scheduler Setup. In Aloha, go to the Scheduling tab, then click on Setup Instructions.

  3. Select Your Scheduler Code.

    • To edit an existing scheduler: Select it from the dropdown menu of your saved embed codes.

    • To create a new one: Type a name for your scheduler in the text box next to Embed Name and next to Javascript Embed Type select Form.

  4. Find the Redirect Setting. In the form builder on the left, click to expand the CALENDAR section.

  5. Enter Your Redirect Link. Paste the URL you copied in Step 1 into the field labeled REDIRECT LINK.

  6. Generate and Install Your Code.

    • Click the blue Generate Code button.

    • If you edited an existing code: The change will update automatically on your website where the code is already installed.

    • If you created a new code: You must copy this new code and install it on your website (or use the "Send Email" button to send it to your web developer).

💡 Common Questions

What You Might Notice

Why It's Happening

What to Do

After booking, patients are not being redirected.

This is most often caused by one of three things: the change wasn't saved, your browser is showing a cached version of your site, or the URL entered was incorrect.

First, double-check that you clicked Generate Code after pasting the URL. Second, clear your browser's cache (see our guide on this). Finally, copy the Payment Page URL from the settings and paste it into a new browser tab to ensure it goes to a live, working page.

Can I redirect to a page that isn't for payments?

Yes. You can redirect to any public URL.

This feature can be used to send patients to a "What to Expect" page, a link to your new patient paperwork, or any other important webpage you want them to see immediately after booking.

Will this redirect happen for all appointments?

The redirect is tied to the specific scheduler embed code.

If you use this embed code on your "New Patient" page, only patients booking through that page will be redirected. If you use the same code for all online booking, then all patients using it will be redirected. You can create multiple scheduler codes with different redirect rules for different pages on your site.

🎉 You'll Know It's Working When:

  • You complete a test booking through your online scheduler and it redirects to the page of your choice once complete.

  • After clicking the final confirmation button, your browser is automatically sent to the payment page URL you entered.
