Do your patients sometimes overpay for their Services, which would result in a positive balance/Credit? Do they sometimes wish to put money towards their care going forward? Clerk can help you keep track of that! 💸

Psst!✨ You will first want to make sure this setting is turned on in your Advanced Settings! You may CLICK HERE to learn more about how to do this!

How to Create Credit

There are two ways to create Credit:

1) By exceeding the total amount due on an Invoice (shown below):

2) By adding a payment without a Service on a One-Off Invoice (shown below):

Once the Credit has been added, it will show on the Invoice:

The Credit will also display in the patient's Contact Card:

Note:✨ While you can technically create Positive Credit on any Invoice, we do not advise creating Positive Credit on any that should be made into a Claim. If at any time you do need to create Positive Credit for patients that have Claims, you can create Positive Credit on a One-Off Invoice like the example above shows! You may CLICK HERE for a refresh on Appointment-Associated Invoices vs. One-Off Invoices.

How to Apply Credit

To apply the Credit, you will select the available credit option from the Payment Type dropdown when you are on the Invoice page:

Type in the Credit amount you wish to apply and then select Add Payment (Available Credit) button to add it to the Invoice. The Invoice will then show the leftover Total Due that the patient has to pay:

Note:✨ You do not have to apply the full amount of the Credit available. If the patient has $50 in Available Credit but only wants to use $20 of it towards their bill, you can go ahead and do that!

And just like that, you're on your way to better bookkeeping! 🤩

Psst!✨ If you still do not see the Available Credit option to choose from when taking a payment or creating a Credit, make sure this is turned on as a Payment Option under your Product Settings, which you may CLICK HERE for a quick refresh!
