Creating a compelling line chart can significantly enhance your reports by clearly representing your data over time.

This guide will walk you through setting up a personalized line chart that meets your reporting needs.

Follow the steps below to configure your chart's axes, customize the data display, and perfectly align the final chart with your requirements.

Getting Started: Access the Reports Module

First, you'll need to head over to the Reports module on our platform. Here's how:

  • Navigate to Reports: Look for the Reports module within the platform. This is where all your data visualization begins.

  • Initiate a New Report: Find the 'New Report' button at the top right corner of your screen. Clicking this button will kickstart creating a new report, where you can add various widgets, including line charts.

Adding Your Line Chart Widget

Once you're in the report creation interface, it's time to add your line chart widget. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Find and click the 'New Report' button in the Reports module at the top right corner.


Step 2: Give your report a name for easy reference later on.


Step 3: Click 'Add your widgets' to explore the widget options available for your report.


Step 4: To add a line chart, you have three options:

Use a preexisting template from 'Select your templates' or

'Select from the Revlitix templates,' or

create a new one by selecting 'Create Custom Widget.'


Customizing Your Line Chart

Creating a line chart that meets your specific needs is crucial. Here's how you can customize yours:

Step 5: Name your line chart widget for future reference and hit 'Save.'

Step 6: Select 'Line Chart' from the 'Widget Type' dropdown. Use the 'Widget Description' field to note why you chose this chart type.



Step 7: Choose the Channel name from the integrated channels list provided.


Step 8: Select an Object that matches your channel's data.


Step 9: Define the Time range (Days, Week, Month, Year) for your data and apply your choice.


Step 10: Step 10: Configure the X-axis and Y-axis

i. X-Axis Setup:

  • Assign the X-axis to display dates relevant to your data.

ii. Y-Axis Setup:

  • Select up to two types of data values to display on the Y-axis.

  • Important: Only one Y-axis value can be selected if data are compared across two periods.


Step 11: Select an Aggregation Method

Choose how you'd like your data grouped on the chart. Your options include:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

Selecting the aggregation method will affect how data points are grouped over time.

Step 12: Choose the Date Format

Select a date format that suits your report and aligns with the aggregation method chosen:

  • The selected date format will appear on the line chart's X-axis.

  • Your data will be plotted based on this format.


Step 13: Sort Data by Date and Metrics

Sort your data by:

  • Date: Choose to display data in chronological order.

  • Metrics: You may sort based on the metrics assigned to the Y-axis to arrange data logically.

Step 14: Define the Sort Order

Select the order in which data should appear on the chart:

  • Choose between ascending or descending order to control how data points are plotted.

Step 15: Advanced Settings – Personalize Your Chart

Customize Chart Color:

  • Click on the color box next to the Y-axis KPIs.

  • Select a color from the palette that fits your brand or presentation style.

Manual Axis Control:

  • Activate Manual Axis Control
    Click the toggle button to enable the manual axis control feature.

  • Input Funnel Stage Values
    Enter the values for the selected Funnel stages in the Y-axis. Make sure to provide the Manual Axis values as required.

  • Set Chart Scaling Parameters
    Define the chart scaling by configuring the following:

    • Min: Allows negative values.

    • Max: Enter the maximum value for the axis.

    • Interval: Supports decimal values for fine-grained scaling.

Exclude Data for Weekends:

  • Exclude Weekend Data
    Tick the checkbox to exclude weekends from the chart.

  • Include Weekend Data
    Leave the checkbox unchecked if you want weekend data to be included in the chart.

Save as Template:

  • If you'd like to reuse this chart configuration in the future, select the "Save Template" option.

Step 16: Preview Your Chart with Data Values

Show Values:

  • Check the "Show Values" box to display the data points on the chart preview.

  • This helps visualize the exact values represented on your chart.

Step 17: Complete and Create Your Widget

Once satisfied with your configuration:

  • Click the Create Widget button to generate your line chart.

Following these steps will help you create a tailored line chart that is effective for data analysis and easy to interpret in reports.
