Engaging bar charts can significantly enhance your reports by clearly representing your data.

This guide is designed to walk you through the process step-by-step, ensuring you can easily navigate our platform and utilize all the features available to create your custom bar chart.

Let's get started!

Getting Started: Access the Reports Module

First things first, let's find our way to the Reports module on our platform:

  • Navigate to Reports: Look for the Reports module within the platform. This is your starting point for all data visualization tasks.

  • Initiate a New Report: Locate the 'New Report' button prominently at the top right corner of your screen. Clicking this button creates a new report, where you can add widgets, including bar charts.

Adding Your Bar Chart Widget

Now that you're in the report creation interface, it's time to add your bar chart widget by following these steps:

Step 1: Find and click the 'New Report' button in the Reports module at the top right corner.


Step 2: Name your report for easy identification later.


Step 3: Click 'Add your widgets' to view the widget options available for your report.


Step 4: To add a bar chart, you have three options: use a preexisting template from 'Select your templates' or 'Select from the Revlitix templates' or start fresh by selecting 'Create Custom Widget.'


Customizing Your Bar Chart

Tailoring your bar chart to meet your specific requirements is essential. Here's how to customize it:

Step 5: Name your bar chart widget for future reference and click 'Save.'


Step 6: Select' Bar Chart' from the 'Widget Type' dropdown. Utilize the 'Widget Description' field to explain your choice of chart type.


Step 7: Choose the channel name from the list of available integrated channels.


Step 8: Select an Object that corresponds to your channel's data.


Step 9: Set the Time range (Days, Week, Month, Year) for your data and confirm your selection.


Step 10: Choose 'Date' as the option from the dropdown on the Date Field


Step 11: To display data on a Bar chart, select from Comparison, Plotting, or Date options:

  1. Comparison: Choose this to compare metrics between two representatives or teams. Select entities and click Apply to view similarities and differences.

  2. Plotting: Visualize data trends over time by selecting Plotting. Choose metrics and customize chart settings for insight into patterns.

  3. Date: Specify a date range for focused analysis. Select Aggregation and Date Format to organize data and click Apply to view the filtered data.

These options make it easy to analyze, track, and compare data effectively on your Bar chart.


Step 12: Configure the 'X-axis' and 'Y-axis' based on your data needs. The X-axis will usually represent categories, while the Y-axis shows values.

Step 13: Select an Aggregation Method

Choose how you'd like your data grouped on the chart. Your options include:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

  • Quarterly

Selecting the aggregation method will affect how data points are grouped over time.


Step 14: Choose the Date Format

Select a date format that suits your report and aligns with the aggregation method chosen:

  • The selected date format will appear on the line chart's X-axis.

  • Your data will be plotted based on this format.

Step 15: Sort Data by Date and Metrics

Sort your data by:

  • Date: Choose to display data in chronological order.

  • Metrics: You may sort based on the metrics assigned to the Y-axis to arrange data logically.

Step 16: Define the Sort Order

Select the order in which data should appear on the chart:

  • Choose between ascending or descending order to control how data points are plotted.

Step 17: Advanced Settings – Personalize Your Chart

Customize Chart Color:

  • Click on the color box next to the Y-axis KPIs.

  • Select a color from the palette that fits your brand or presentation style.

Exclude Data for Weekends:

  • If you don't need weekend data, tick the checkbox to exclude these days from the chart.

  • Leave the checkbox unchecked if you want weekend data included.

Save as Template:

  • If you'd like to reuse this chart configuration in the future, select the "Save Template" option.

Step 18: Preview Your Chart with Data Values

Show Values:

  • Check the "Show Values" box to display the data points on the chart preview.

  • This helps visualize the exact values represented on your chart.

Step 19: Complete and Create Your Widget

Once satisfied with your configuration:

  • Click the Create Widget button to generate your line chart.

Finally, to complete the creation of your bar chart, click the 'Create Widget' button. This final step solidifies your efforts and brings your custom bar chart into existence.

Now, the recently created bar chart is available under the Reports section.

Following these steps, you'll create a bar chart and ensure it perfectly fits your reporting needs.
