Measuring Your Head for a Helmet
Getting an accurate head measurement is the first step to finding a helmet that fits properly. A poorly fitted helmet won't protect you the way it should.
What You Need
A soft measuring tape (fabric or tailor's tape)
If you don't have one, use a piece of string and then measure it against a ruler
How to Measure
Wrap the tape around your head about 2.5 cm (1 inch) above your eyebrows.
Keep the tape level all the way around — it should pass over the widest part of the back of your head.
Pull the tape snug but not tight. You should be able to fit one finger underneath.
Read the measurement in centimeters. This is your head circumference.
Measure twice to make sure you get a consistent number.
General Size Chart
Head Circumference | Helmet Size |
51–52 cm | X-Small |
53–54 cm | Small |
55–56 cm | Medium |
57–58 cm | Large |
59–60 cm | X-Large |
Note: Sizes vary between brands. Always check the specific size chart for the helmet model you're interested in. If you're between sizes, go with the smaller size — helmet padding will break in slightly over time.
