Do you struggle with keeping a list of unique Safeguards where there is minimal repeat of information across the PHA? We have a built-in process that can resolve this for you! A list of unique Safeguard Descriptions can help keep the PHA clean, easy to digest, and also help provide the most accurate results with the Risk Alive PHA Analytics.

Merging Safeguards

Figure 1. Safeguard Merging on Safeguard Unique Page

To begin, click on the Safeguard Merging text at the top of the Unique List.

When you first arrive on the Safeguard Merging Page (Figure 2), the page will show:

  • Groupings of Safeguards that may potentially be unintentionally described inconsistently. Only Safeguards which have been credited greater than 0 at least once will be included in this process to minimize noise for description consistency.

    • This will apply to Safeguards that have tags (e.g. PSV-1000) or non tags (e.g. Operator round to monitor level gauge).

  • Unmerged Safeguards, which were not initially identified as having inconsistent groupings.

Figure 2. Safeguard Merging Page

In order to merge a Safeguard, you can either click "Select All" of the grouping you are interested in, or only the selected Safeguard descriptions that apply to the potential merging. Once you select any 2 Safeguards, there will be a:

  • Target Safeguard: This will be the final description if you choose to merge

  • Other Safeguards: These are the one or many safeguards that will be merged into the Target Safeguard.

  • Once you have finalized your descriptions, click Merge Selected Safeguards to execute the merge. If any unintentional merge has been made, you can still Undo using Ctrl+Z only while your still on the Safeguard Merging page. Once you leave the Safeguard Merging page, Undo will not be available.

If you find an Unmerged Safeguard that should be in a grouping, you can click the Unmerged Safeguard. To remove a Safeguard Description from a grouping in the right section, click on the checkmark next to the Safeguard Description.

Merging Recommendations

Note this functionality is also available for Recommendations on the Recommendation Unique Page.
