First steps

If you are involved in an accident, the first thing you should do is get to safety. Then you should immediately call 999.

As soon as possible after you are safe, contact our support team in the Ryde app and let them know what has happened.

Please have your mode of transport checked to ensure safety after the accident. Please only return to riding when you are fully recovered.

You may also wish to contact your insurer after an incident if you want to make a claim.

Can I make a Statutory Sick Pay claim?

Our riders are engaged as ‘dependent contractors’ when working on shifts at Ryde. This means you are entitled to SSP if you have earned more than £123 a week, for the 8 weeks leading up to an accident.

You must also submit your claim within 7 days of the accident to qualify for SSP.

If you are on motorised vehicles you must have full H&R insurance (not just 3rd party) to qualify for SSP.

If you are on non-motorised vehicles you maybe be covered by ONSI’s public liability insurance.

Additionally, any riders on gold tier at the time of the accident qualify for time off work (SSP equivalent).

How do I make a claim?

To make a claim, access the in-app chat section of the Ryde app and then follow the steps listed below.

I have a question > I want to make an SSP/Injury claim

Then follow the instructions that appear and fill out any forms.
