Mobile vs. Desktop Optimization

Written by Sam

Every page in Showit has two separate layouts: Desktop and Mobile.

This gives you more flexibility and creative freedom to design a great experience for visitors on every device, but it also means that changes don't always carry over automatically between the two views (trust me on this because I'm the queen of ignoring the mobile side like the plague lol don't be like me!!!).

Desktop View

The Desktop View is what visitors see when they're browsing your website on a computer or laptop. This layout gives you more space to work with and is often where you'll build your page first.

Mobile View

The Mobile View is designed specifically for phones and smaller screens (like 90% of people will be viewing your website on their phones so mobile optimization is SUPER important). Because there's less screen space available, elements are often stacked differently or resized to create a better browsing experience. You'll want to review every page in Mobile View before publishing to make sure everything looks the way you expect.

Do Changes Sync Between Desktop and Mobile?

Some changes, like updating text or replacing an image, will appear in both Desktop and Mobile Views. However, layout changes such as moving, resizing, or hiding elements often need to be adjusted separately. That's why it's important to review both versions of your website whenever you make updates.

Preview Before You Publish

Before publishing your changes, take a few minutes to preview both the Desktop and Mobile versions of your website. This is the easiest way to catch any spacing, alignment, or formatting issues before your updates go live.

Good to Know

It's completely normal to make small adjustments in both Desktop and Mobile Views. Because each layout is designed for a different screen size, a section that looks perfect on desktop may need a few tweaks on mobile and vice versa.
