Basic Showit Functions

Written by Sam

If you're just getting started with Showit, these are the basic functions you'll use most often when updating your website!

Editing Text

Updating text is one of the easiest changes you can make in Showit. Simply double click on the text you'd like to edit and start typing. Any formatting you've already set up (like the font, size, and color) will stay in place unless you choose to change it. If you'd like to adjust the formatting, you'll find those options in the panel on the right hand side of the editor.

Replacing an Image

To replace an image, click on the image you'd like to update. From there, you can choose a new image from your Media Library (top right) or upload a new one from your computer.

Moving Elements

Need to move something? Simply click on the element and drag it into place! As you move elements around the page, Showit will display purple/pink smart guides to help you line everything up. If you're finding it difficult to select an element, try zooming in or using the Layers panel.

Duplicating Elements

Want to reuse a button, image, or text box? Select the element, right click, and choose Duplicate, or use the duplicate button in the toolbar. Or you can simply click on any element and use command C then command V to copy and paste. This is often quicker than creating a brand new element from scratch.

Deleting Elements

To remove an element, simply select it and press Delete on your keyboard, or right click and choose Delete.

Undo & Redo

Made a mistake? No problem. Use the Undo and Redo buttons in the bottom right of your toolbar (or the keyboard shortcuts) to quickly step backwards or forwards through your recent changes!

Preview Your Changes

Before publishing, it's always a good idea to preview your website. Click Preview to see what your visitors will see without making your changes live. Be sure to check both the desktop and mobile versions before publishing!

Publishing Your Website

When you're happy with your changes, click Publish in the top right corner of the web editor. Your updates won't appear on your live website until you've published them. If you've made several changes, it's always worth giving your website one final preview before publishing.
