If you are not registering a vehicle, technically, you can visit any tax collector's office within the state.
We send users to Sumter County to get their driver's license every single day. The staff is very familiar with our park and the documents we provide as proof. If you go to a different county, rather than use our "Letter to the Tax Collector," we recommend you bring two different proofs of address from two different financial institutions and/or a cell phone provider.
In addition, offices in other counties often prioritize their own county's residents over those of other counties, so make sure you have an appointment and call ahead to confirm they will see you if you are a resident of another county. For example, Miami has a blanket policy that they do not see non Miami-Dade county residents (although they sometimes make exceptions).
If you are registering a vehicle, if you have the title with you, you can still visit any tax collector's office within the state (as long as you have an appointment).
If you or your bank have had the title mailed to a tax collector's office in advance, then you must visit the same tax collector's office where you had the title mailed to. See a complete list of tax collector office locations here (with links to book an appointment).
Regardless of which tax collector's office you decide to visit, making an appointment can help reduce wait times and ensure you get the assistance you need.
Also, make sure to bring all required documentation, including proof of your Social Security number, a primary form of identification (like a birth certificate or passport), and two proofs of your residential address in Florida.
