You can find the shipping status of your Declaration of Domicile by going to the Documents tab. If your declaration has successfully arrived at the clerk's office, the status will show as "Completed" or "Delivered."
โ
To confirm your declaration has been filed and see it in the county records, first head to the Clerk's records website. In the "Party Name" field, enter your last name along with a wildcard character ( * ). For example, if your last name is Johnson, you may want to search for "Johnson*" or "*Johnson*". You may need to try a few different combinations of your last name, first name, and asterisks before your record appears. Leave the "Legal Description" field empty. "Standard Document Type" should be "All Document Types" and "Instrument Type" should be "All Instrument Types."
โ
After you complete your declaration, it can take up to eight weeks before it shows up in county records. Finally, keep in mind that filing a declaration of domicile is an independent process from getting your state ID or driver's license. You will not need your declaration in any way when getting your license.
