Registered Agents & Your SavvyNomad Address

Written by Jameson Rader

What is a registered agent?

A registered agent is a person or business entity designated to receive official legal and government documents on behalf of your LLC or corporation. This includes things like:

  • Service of process — lawsuit notices and court summons

  • State compliance notices — annual report reminders, tax correspondence, and notices of administrative dissolution

  • Official government correspondence from the Secretary of State

Every LLC and corporation is required by state law to have a registered agent with a physical street address in the state where the business is formed (or where it's foreign-qualified to do business).

Does SavvyNomad offer registered agent service?

Yes — and it's included free for middle-tier or premium members. If your LLC is formed in Florida, SavvyNomad can serve as your registered agent at your SavvyNomad address.

As part of this service, we provide you with a registered agent consent letter, which includes the signature of your designated registered agent. This letter is a standard, legally required document that confirms your agent has agreed to serve in this role.

What do I do with my consent letter?

The consent letter is your document to use — SavvyNomad providing it does not automatically update your registered agent information with the state. You are responsible for submitting the appropriate forms to your state to officially designate SavvyNomad as your registered agent.

Depending on your situation, this typically means:

  • Filing a Change of Registered Agent form with the Florida Division of Corporations (or during your initial LLC formation)

  • Submitting the consent letter alongside that filing if required

Until you complete this update with the state, your registered agent on record remains whoever was previously designated.

My LLC isn't formed in Florida — can SavvyNomad still be my registered agent?

Unfortunately, no. Because SavvyNomad operates in Florida, we can only serve as a registered agent for LLCs and corporations formed in Florida. Registered agents must have a physical presence in the state of formation, so if your business was formed in another state, you'll need to designate a registered agent licensed in that state.

If my LLC isn't in Florida, can I still use my SavvyNomad address for business mail?

Absolutely. Even if your LLC isn't formed in Florida, you can still add your business to your USPS Form 1583 and receive business mail at your SavvyNomad address. This works well for general business correspondence, vendor mail, customer communications, and more.

However, keep in mind that certain official and legal mail will still be sent to your registered agent's address on file with the state, not your SavvyNomad address. Examples include:

  • Lawsuits and service of process — courts and process servers send these directly to the registered agent address on record

  • Secretary of State notices — annual report reminders, compliance warnings, and notices of dissolution

  • State tax authority correspondence tied to your entity registration

  • Franchise tax notices and assessments

If you're expecting any of this type of mail, make sure your registered agent is aware and has a way to forward it to you promptly.

How do I get my consent letter?

Once you complete a USPS 1583 Form that includes you business, this letter will automatically be generated for you. You can download it on your Documents tab. If you haven't yet completed a 1583 for your business, you can follow these instructions to do so.
