Setting up and maintaining an LLC often requires the designation of a registered agent to meet legal and operational requirements.
Overview of Registered Agent Services
A registered agent is a legally required role for LLCs in most states. The registered agent must:
Be an actual person or a business entity authorized to act as a registered agent.
Be officially recognized to receive legal and official correspondence on behalf of the LLC.
Their primary responsibilities include receiving service of process, tax notices, and compliance-related documents.
Documentation Requirements for Registered Agents
When appointing a registered agent, certain documents are generally required to confirm the appointment. For services provided by SavvyNomad, customers will receive a consent letter signed by a staff member. If using a different registered agent service, the provider will usually supply similar documentation. To obtain your Registered Agent (RA) consent letter through SavvyNomad, you can either download it directly from your account settings under the "Documents" or "Settings" tab of the customer portal.
Registered Agent Compatibility and Options
SavvyNomad customers have various options for appointing a registered agent:
Using SavvyNomad as Your Registered Agent (Florida) - For Florida LLCs, SavvyNomad services include the necessary documentation (e.g., consent letters) to simplify compliance with legal requirements. As long as you have the middle-tier SavvyNomad or Domicile Premium plan, registered agent services for one LLC are included free of charge. Additionally, virtual office services, document scanning, shredding, mail forwarding, and check deposits are also included for one business free of charge.
Note for Texas: SavvyNomad does not offer Texas Registered Agent services at this time. If your LLC is registered in Texas, you will need to use a third-party registered agent (see option below). Virtual office services, document scanning, shredding, mail forwarding, and check deposits remain available with your SavvyNomad mailing address.Using Third-Party Registered Agent Services - Customers may use third-party services in any state where their LLC is registered. For example, both Florida and Texas allow the use of third-party registered agents, which are fully compatible with the use of a SavvyNomad mailing address as the LLC business address. Note that third-party providers may charge additional fees for handling mail items or other added services, in contrast to SavvyNomad's offerings, which are included free of charge in the middle- and highest-tier plans.
How to Generate a New Registered Agent Consent Letter
This applies to Florida LLCs using SavvyNomad as the registered agent. To request a new RA consent letter:
Add your business info into the portal: You can do this by following this guide. This will involve you completing and notarizing another USPS 1583 Form for your business.
Specify your registered agent preferences: as seen in this screenshot, select which registered agent option you want.
Generate consent letter: Once you complete your 1583 notarization session for your new business, your registered agent consent letter will automatically generate.
