In construction project management, understanding the concepts of predecessors, successors, and parent tasks is crucial for effective planning and scheduling. Here's what each of these terms means:

Predecessors:

  • Definition: Predecessor tasks are those that must be completed before another task can begin. They establish dependencies between tasks, indicating the sequence in which they should be executed.

Successors:

  • Definition: Successor tasks are those that cannot start until another task, its predecessor, is completed. They rely on the completion of the predecessor task.

Parent Tasks:

  • Definition: Parent tasks are higher-level tasks that encompass and organize several subtasks or child tasks. They represent a grouping or container for related activities.

Once you select the parent task, successor, or predecessor task please click the Link tasks to move forward
