Record patient consent and turn on Scrypt Reminders prescription reminders for an individual patient.

Written by Scrypt Support

Before you start

Make sure you are familiar with the Scrypt Reminders automated prescription reminder service by reading these articles:

Before enabling Scrypt Reminders for a patient, confirm that:

  • Pharmacy-level reminders are enabled.

  • Patient consent has been obtained.

  • The patient has a date of birth recorded and a mobile number recorded, or is registered in the Scrypt Mobile App (optional).

Enable prescription reminders for a patient

Step 1: Open Scrypt Reminders

Open the patient profile and click the Scrypt Reminders badge. A settings window opens where you record patient consent and configure settings.

Step 2: Capture patient consent

Confirm the patient has provided consent, then check the consent statement checkbox. Enter the initials or identifying text of the staff member recording the consent, then click Record Consent. The system records the timestamp automatically.

Step 3: Enable prescription reminders

In the Scrypt Reminders window, enable Prescription Reminder Service and select the preferred communication channel: SMS, or the Scrypt Mobile App if the patient is registered.

Step 4: Configure reminder settings per medication

The medication table lets you enable or disable reminders per medication and select which reminder types apply. For next repeat reminders, choose the trigger logic: Repeat Interval or Days On Hand (DOH). Enter the relevant number of days to customise when the reminder is sent for next repeat reminders.

You can select or deselect all medications, or configure each medication individually.

Note the following. Uncategorised medications can only use Repeat Interval logic. Schedule 8 medications attempt to use the repeat interval recorded from the current prescription.

Step 5: Review projected messages

In the patient profile, go to Communications > Projected Messages. This view shows which medications are being evaluated, which reminder types may trigger, and a selected future date range.

These messages are projected only and are recalculated in real time. If a prescription is dispensed before the reminder is due, it may no longer send. Projected messages are not locked in advance.

Step 6: Save changes

Click Save to apply the configuration.

Disable prescription reminders for a patient

If a patient no longer wishes to receive reminders, open the Scrypt Reminders badge, uncheck Enable Prescription Reminder Service, then save changes. No further reminders are sent.

Troubleshooting

If reminders are not behaving as expected, check patient consent, confirm the date of birth and contact details, review the communication settings, and use Projected Messages for visibility.
