A Pod is a real checking account you can open up inside Sequence to budget and separate funds more effectively - like a real digital envelope for your money.

You can use Pods to store, split, and route funds based on rules you define.

They help you compartmentalize money across different needs or goals.

Think of them as a the solution to, "I wish I had an account specifically for...

  • Saving for taxes or emergencies

  • Holding money for business expenses

  • Setting aside funds for travel, projects, or payroll

Just click + > Create a pod, choose whether it’s for you personally or your business, and you’re good to go.

Behind the Scenes

While Pods feel like internal containers, each one is actually a real checking account opened through our partner bank, Thread.

Sequence handles the entire banking relationship for you - there’s no need to interact with the bank directly.

This setup gives you all the benefits of a traditional account - FDIC insurance, unique account numbers, direct deposits - while unlocking powerful automation through Sequence.

Why Use the Pods?

Pods give you more control over how your money is held and moved.

Unlike external bank accounts, Pods are deeply integrated with Sequence, allowing you to automate how money flows in and out with much quicker transfer times.

They're faster, smarter, and more flexible than traditional accounts because they are native to Sequence.

Debit Cards for Pods

Each Pod can have multiple debit cards associated with it - physical or virtual.

  • Virtual Debit Cards: Perfect for online services like subscriptions, ads, or software. You can assign a virtual card to a Pod and route funds directly into it. Charges are pulled automatically when due.

  • Physical Debit Cards: Use for in-person transactions linked to a specific Pod, making it easier to manage your spending by category or purpose.

  • OmniCard: Use a single debit card to make purchases from any of your Pods. Before each transaction, you can quickly select which Pod to charge

Manage your spending with ease and keep everything organized.

What Makes Pods Powerful

  • Automated Bill Pay: Compartmentalize your bill payments by routing funds into a Pod, letting services pull charges directly

  • Custom Names & Goals: Label each Pod based on its purpose

  • Fast Transfers: Move money instantly between Pods and other Sequence accounts

Example Use Cases

  • Route 30% of every income to a “Quarterly Taxes” Pod

  • Sweep leftover balance into a “Rainy Day” Pod at the end of each day or week

  • Hold client payments in a Pod until bills or team members are paid

  • Use a dedicated Pod (and card) for subscriptions, software, or other recurring expenses

Pods give you the tools to not just hold money - but manage it proactively.
