If you move to Australia, you cannot withdraw your KiwiSaver balance, however, you can have your KiwiSaver transferred to a compliant APRA-approved Australian superannuation fund.
You must be a member of an Australian superannuation fund before you request a withdrawal, as we will request proof of membership as part of the review process.
Permanent Emigration outside Australia
If you’ve moved overseas permanently, you can withdraw your KiwiSaver balance after 1 year living abroad. You’ll have to provide evidence of leaving New Zealand and proof of your intention to live overseas for the foreseeable future (e.g. house, tenancy or employment agreement).
