What is a passkey?
Passkeys are a more secure way to log in to your Sharesies account using the same method you unlock your device with—such as your fingerprint, face, PIN, or pattern.
Passkeys provide the strongest account protection as they can never be guessed or reused, and offer greater protection against phishing attacks. However, they’re only as strong as the device lock method you have set up—make sure it’s kept secure and not shared with anyone else.
How to create a passkey
Before following these steps to create a passkey, you’ll need to have a device lock and a password manager set up on your device.
Open the Sharesies mobile app.
Log in to your Sharesies account.
Go to Settings > Security > Passkeys.
Select ‘Create passkey’, and you’ll be guided through creating a passkey with the password manager on your device.
You’ll be all set to use your passkey anywhere your password is required.
How to delete a passkey
Open the Sharesies mobile app.
Log in to your Sharesies account.
Go to Settings > Security > Passkeys.
Select ‘Delete’ on the listed passkey, and confirm.
If you delete your passkey, you will no longer be able to use it to log into your Sharesies account. You’ll also need to delete this passkey from your password manager.
App security and two-factor authentication
Passkeys are an alternative to traditional passwords for a more secure login experience. Passkeys are 2FA by nature, so when using your passkey you won’t be prompted to enter a 2FA verification code.
On your mobile device, you retain the option to access your app using face, fingerprint, or PIN for added convenience and security.
