So you've filmed your masterpiece for a profile video, but you can't upload it?

We have a couple of limits in place to keep things running smoothly. First, check your file from your phone or camera end in .MP4 or .MOV. Most videos are recorded in one of these so they are the only two formats we support.

The file must also be under 100MB in size. An error should let you know when attempting an upload that it is over the size limit. Please try one of these two options:

Compress the video:

If you have filmed the perfect video and it has gone over the limit, don't panic! There is something we can try.

  1. Go to Veed.io video compressor tool where you can upload the file and it will reduce it to a size we will accept, sacrificing some quality along the way.

  2. When uploaded, use the slider to reduce the quality until the estimated size is under 100MB and click "compress video".

  3. The new file will be able to be downloaded from the website. Please check for any vast reduction in quality if the video was a lot over the limit, as it may be necessary to refilm the video.

Re-record the video with a lower resolution

If you have a lot to say in your video and are recording in the highest quality setting on a modern device, there may be no hope of saying everything and keeping it under 100MB. It might be best to reduce quality to 720p and 30fps. If you have your settings any higher and are struggling to keep the video under the 100MB limit, consider changing the settings. This process depends on the device but you can see the examples below:

iPhones:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap Camera, then tap Record Video.

  3. Select from the list of video formats and frame rates that your iPhone or iPad supports.

On iPhone XS, iPhone XR and later, you can also tap the quick toggles in the top right-hand corner of your screen in the camera app to change the video format and frame rates.

Android:

  1. Go to the camera app.

  2. When in video mode tap the settings gear icon on the screen.

  3. Select a lower camera resolution and/or frame rate from the options listed here.

Laptop/PC (excluding Apple):

  1. Go to Start menu > search camera

  2. Click the settings gear icon in the top left-hand corner

  3. Scroll down to videos and choose a reduced quality from the video quality drop-down menu. We recommend no higher than 720p 30fps.
