This is a guide designed to help students use Sherpa's new classroom for the first time and how to get the most out of its new features.
Practice makes perfect!
You as a student can join this demo classroom linked below to try the tools or follow the steps below to learn more about how to use the lesson space.
Joining the classroom:
Follow this video on how to join a classroom. Make sure you have given permission to your browser to “Allow” for audio and video to be used from your camera and microphone!
You can also now add background blur to your video and include advanced noise cancelling to improve audio quality in busy cramped environments. Learn how to toggle these on, here.
Troubleshooting any problems
You can troubleshoot any problems you have by clicking on the gear icon > Troubleshooting in the right-hand side menu.
You should be ready for your lesson when you get the message "Everything looks good!".
Exploring the Space:
The Document Tab and Whiteboard tabs are where you will mainly interact with your notes and work together with your tutor throughout the lesson. See our complete guide to the new whiteboard features to learn about what all the buttons do!
You can see your teacher’s cursor move and they can see yours. There are many awesome features on the whiteboard, read here to explore them all.
The Chat:
It helps you speak to your teacher if you can’t hear them and need help troubleshooting problems. You can type into the chat and press Enter to send. You can also post links, questions and homework.
Leading Mode:
If your teacher enables Leading mode in the lesson, it means that wherever the teacher goes in a classroom, you, as the student, will be pulled into that same tab. To go to a different tab, ask your teacher to disable Leading mode.
Exiting the Classroom:
To leave a Space click on the cross in the top tab in your browser.
Lesson recordings
You can rewatch your lesson recording at any time from your completed bookings page. Click "view recording" to watch it for revision! Learn more about how and why we record lessons here.
