In eCommerce, most checkout flows include a field for promo codes—typically on the payment step. But in some cases, brands choose to remove this field altogether or suppress it selectively across checkout stages.

One common scenario is when the entire site is already on discount. During sales events or brand-wide promotions, all products might already reflect marked-down pricing or automatic cart-level discounts. In these cases, many operators choose to disable manual discount entry to avoid confusion, prevent stacking, and simplify the checkout experience. Fashion and lifestyle brands do this often during end-of-season sales or site-wide events.

Let’s look at where the discount field is typically removed, and how can you remove them from your checkout.

Where Can You Remove the Discount Field?

1. Login Page

Early in the funnel, the focus is on identity—not pricing. Removing the discount field here prevents shoppers from being distracted before they even reach the cart.

2. Address Page

There’s little operational logic for applying a discount based on address data. Most brands suppress the field here by default to streamline the step.

3. Payment Page

This is where promo code boxes most commonly appear. It’s also where removal has the most strategic impact—especially if the site is running fixed offers or automated discounting.

💡 In all cases, the discount still can be applied automatically — just not manually by the user.

Setup Guide

Step by Step Guide

In this guide, you'll learn how to remove the discount tab from different sections of your checkout. Follow these steps to streamline your shop's interface.

Step 1: Navigate to the Shopflo Dashboard and go to Customize UI.

Step 2: To remove the discount tab from the login page, select Login.

Step 3: Navigate to Coupon Application, click the checkbox, and save your changes. The discount tab will be removed from the login page.

Step 4: To remove the discount tab from the address section, follow the same process. Select the Address tab.

Step 5: Go to Coupon Application, click on the tab, and save your changes.

Step 6: To remove the coupon tab from the payment page, navigate to Coupon Application, click the checkbox, and save your changes.

Removing the discount field isn’t about discouraging promotions—it’s about managing them with intent. When the logic behind pricing is already baked into your product setup, hiding the manual field often makes the experience cleaner, faster, and less error-prone.
