Globe Control Settings
The Globe Control feature allows you to manage how the globe is rendered and customise the background of the 3D scene. You can access these settings in the top-right corner of the 3D scene.
Note: Settings are saved locally on your device.
View Modes
Default View: Globe rendering is off by default. This helps you to focus on your layers.
2D Aerial Map: Displays a flat map based on the WGS84 ellipsoid (height = 0).
(2D Aerial Map mode with Street Map)
3D Terrain: Renders real-world elevation data using Cesium World Terrain for a realistic 3D landscape.
(3D Terrian mode with Satellite Imagery)
Google Earth Globe (Enterprise Plan Only): Access Google Earth’s 3D models and high-resolution terrain, including photorealistic city models, for a detailed urban experience.
Map Types
You can customise the map appearance in 2D Aerial Map and 3D Terrain modes. Choose from:
Street Map
Satellite Imagery
Background Colour
Adjust the background colour of the 3D scene to improve clarity, especially when working with models without RGB data (these are displayed in black).
Layer Dependencies
Ortho Layers: When displaying ortho layers, the system automatically switches to 2D Aerial Map mode. The globe cannot be turned off, as the layer is rendered on the globe.
3D Terrain Layers: When displaying 3D terrain layers, the system automatically switches to 3D Terrain mode, and globe rendering cannot be disabled because the terrain depends on it.
