This guide provides you reference on how to export 3D Tiles created from Agisoft Metashape.

How to Export 3D Tiles from Agisoft Metashape

1. Check Your Processed Data

Ensure that the 3D tiles have been fully processed before exporting them.

2. Export the 3D Tiles

You have two options on how to do this:

Option A: Using File in the Menu Bar

Go to File > Export > Export Tiled Model

Option B: Through the 3D Tile

Go to the 3D Tile, right click and Export Tiled Model.

3. Save the 3D Tiles

Label and save the 3D Tiles in your preferred directory, ensuring you select Cesium 3D Tiles from the "Save as type" dropdown menu.

Note: If you're using Agisoft Metashape version 2.1 or earlier, you may encounter a different prompt when saving your 3D Tiles. Older versions use the .zip file extension for Cesium 3D Tiles, whereas version 2.2 and later save them in .3tz format. Skand supports 3D Tiles in .zip format.

4. Export the Tiled Model

Ensure that the Coordinate Reference System (CRS) is set correctly. Under Export Parameters, you can choose between JPEG and KTX 2.0 as the texture format for rasters. KTX 2.0 is ideal for larger models due to its superior compression, while JPEG offers broader compatibility.

Click OK once done.

5. Additional Step for Metashape Version 2.2 and Later Users

After saving your 3D Tile, navigate to the directory where it was saved and rename the file extension from .3tz to .zip. If your operating system warns that this may make the file unusable, you can safely proceed with the change.

Cesium currently changed its file extension name for 3d tiles to .3tz but you don't need to worry changing the file name to .zip.
