Optimising Performance on Low-Spec Machines with White Screen Issues using SKAND

If you're using SKAND on a machine with lower hardware specifications (e.g. limited RAM or older CPUs), you may experience browser crashes or sluggish performance, especially when viewing large 3D tilesets.

Recommended Setting: Lower Tile Memory Budget

To help improve performance and prevent browser crashes, we recommend reducing the Tile memory budget:

  1. Open the Settings panel in SKAND.

  2. Locate the Tile memory budget option under the 3D Viewer Tab.

  3. Reduce the value incrementally until the performance stabilises.

This setting controls how much browser memory is allocated for rendering tiles in the 3D scene.

Note: Lowering the tile memory budget can reduce the visual quality of the model, as fewer tiles may be loaded or rendered at full resolution. This is a trade-off to maintain stability on lower-end devices.
