How to Export an E57 from NavVis IVION

Learn how to export a point cloud as an .e57 file from NavVis IVION using the Crop & Download tool, with the option to embed panoramas so they come across with your data.

Before you start: You will need Admin or Editor permissions in NavVis IVION to crop and download point clouds. Larger exports can take a few minutes to finish.

Open the Crop & Download Tool

  1. In the toolbar, click the "Crop & download" icon. Users can also right-click anywhere in the view and select "Crop & download".

  2. The Crop & download panel will open on the side of the screen, set the data type to point cloud (e57) and specify the spatial reference system as necessary.

Note: Selecting the Site coordinate system in Coordinate Sytem will export the E57 file in local coordinates. Users may need to georeference the file after uploading it to SKAND.

Include Panoramas in Your .e57 Download

If users want their panoramic images embedded in the export rather than the point cloud on its own, choose the panorama option before downloading.

  1. In the Crop & download panel, open the format drop-down.

  2. Select .e57 with panoramas.

  3. Click Download. Every panorama that sits inside the cropped area will be included in the file.

Note: Only the panoramas inside the crop box are exported. If users need the full set, expand your crop selection to cover the whole area before downloading.

What's Next

Once the .e57 has finished downloading, users can bring it straight into their project. See Import e57 File with Panoramic Images for the full import steps in SKAND.
