Users can now create annotations directly inside image pop-outs. Instead of switching to 3D Overlay or 2D Fullscreen Mode, users can mark up defects and areas of interest on an image while keeping the 3D model in view. Each annotation is automatically linked to the image it was drawn on, making it easy to trace findings back to the source photo.
Below are the steps on how to add an annotation in an image pop-out.
Opening an Image in Pop-out Mode
Click a camera widget in the 3D scene, then select Open in pop-out.
Optional: Alternatively, search for the image in the Layer Tree, click ..., and select Open in pop-out.
Use the zoom slider or the + and – buttons at the top of the pop-out to zoom in on the area to be annotated.
Resizing an Image Pop-out
Image pop-outs can be resized, so users can choose how much of the 3D scene stays visible while they work on an image. There are two ways to resize a pop-out.
To resize a pop-out by dragging:
Hover over any edge or corner of the pop-out until the cursor changes to a resize arrow.
Click and drag to make the pop-out larger or smaller.
To resize a pop-out with the Expand button:
Click the Expand icon in the pop-out toolbar to enlarge the pop-out.
Click the icon again to return the pop-out to its previous size.
Pop-out Toolbar Overview
The toolbar at the top of each pop-out includes the following controls, from left to right:
Control | Description |
Zoom slider | Drag the slider, or click the – and + buttons, to zoom out of or into the image. |
View in 2D | Displays the image as a standard 2D photo. |
View in panorama | Displays the image as a 360° panorama. This option only works if the image is panoramic. |
Reset zoom | Returns the image to its original zoom level. |
Draw annotation | Starts drawing a new annotation on the image. |
Open in 3D Image Viewer | Opens the image in the 3D Image Viewer, overlaid on the 3D model. |
Download | Downloads the image to the user's device. |
Expand | Enlarges the pop-out for a bigger view of the image. |
Close | Closes the pop-out. |
Drawing an Annotation
Click the Draw annotation (pen) icon in the pop-out toolbar.
Click on the image to place points around the area of interest. Each click adds a new point to the shape.
Use the drawing toolbar to undo the last point or delete the shape and start over if needed.
Click Done to finish the shape.
Saving the Annotation
In the Annotation panel, enter a Name, then select a Template and an Annotation group.
The Associated 2D image field is automatically filled in with the image the annotation was drawn on. Populate other fields as needed.
Click Create. A confirmation message appears, and the new annotation is added to the selected annotation group in the Layer Tree.
Note: Name, Template, and Annotation group are required. The Create button remains disabled until all three fields are filled in.
Important: All annotations created in the pop-out are 2D.
