This guide walks you through the process of exporting and uploading Insta360 videos to SKAND using the SKAND360 iOS app.
Note: The application is currently in beta. If you don't have access, please reach out to us for assistance.
Step-by-step guide for importing videos from Insta360 to SKAND
Open the SKAND360 iOS app and log in using your SKAND account credentials.
Connect your Insta360 camera to your phone via Wi-Fi. If this is your first time connecting the camera, tap How to connect and follow the step-by-step instructions.
The app will automatically switch the camera to time-lapse mode with a 0.5-second interval and select the optimal resolution for your device:
8K – 30 FPS
5.7K – 30 FPS
In most cases, no manual setup is required. However, if the camera doesn’t switch modes automatically, please set it to time-lapse mode and choose the appropriate resolution based on the supported devices table.
Supported Devices
You can find the video recorded with your Insta360 in the Video List. At this point, the video is not automatically exported to your phone.
To export the video from Insta360 to your phone, click the Export button. Ensure your Insta360 device remains connected during the export process.
Exporting may take some time, so it’s recommended to do this after your recording session.
Once the export is complete, you no longer need to keep the device connected.
Here are some additional recommendations to make exporting more stable:
Keep the app open: Don’t turn off the screen or switch to another app — the app will keep your phone awake throughout the export.
Maintain a stable connection: Avoid any Wi-Fi interruptions between your phone and the camera.
Charge your devices: Keep both your phone and camera plugged in while exporting.
Free up storage: Ensure you have enough free space on your phone.
Estimated Storage Requirements for 5.7K and 8K Timelapse
Note: An additional 2GB is reserved for the OS and should be considered separately.
It's recommended to switch to a high-speed Wi-Fi network before uploading the video to ensure a smooth upload process. To upload the video to the SKAND:
Go to the Project List in the app
Select the project in which you want to upload the video.
Create a new layer within the selected project. During this step, you can choose the desired outputs. A corresponding folder will be automatically created in SKAND Data Management to store the video.
On the Layer Details screen, click Upload your video to select the video from the Video List. If you still see the export button instead of the upload button, export the video first. Once the export is complete, the upload button will appear.
After the video is uploaded, you can add it to the layer. Simply click Add it to the layer and select the file you just uploaded.
Known limitations
Project Creation: The app currently does not support creating new projects. You will need to create projects through the SKAND Web UI.
One Video per Layer: Each layer can only support a single video.
Layer Deletion: The app does not allow layers to be deleted. This must be done through the Web UI.
Camera Setup: The camera must be set to 360 mode. Single-lens mode is not supported yet.
