Messaging Timing Settings

When setting up a reminder in SKED, the Timing section controls when the message is sent relative to an appointment. There are two approaches.

Appointment-Based Time

Sends the message a set amount of time before or after the scheduled appointment. You choose the amount of time (in minutes, hours, or days) and whether it's Before or After the scheduled appointment. Use "Before" for pre-visit reminders (e.g., 1 day before to confirm, 1 hour before as a heads-up). Use "After" for follow-ups, post-visit check-ins, or feedback requests. To send a message the same day as the appointment, set it to 0 days before.

Specific Time of Day

Sends the message at a fixed clock time on the target day, regardless of when the appointment is scheduled. For example, a message set to go out at 8:00 PM the day before will always send at 8:00 PM — whether the appointment is at 9:00 AM or 4:00 PM.

Which to Use

Use appointment-based time when the message needs to land at a specific interval relative to the appointment (e.g., 2 hours before). Use specific time of day when you want all messages to go out at the same time each day regardless of appointment time — common for day-before reminders where you want a consistent send window like the evening before.

Note: Reminders do not fire on the same day they are created or enabled. Changes take effect starting the next day.
