Reminders

Learn how to create and customize automated appointment reminders, missed appointment messages, and SKED registration emails to improve patient communication and reduce no-shows.

📝 Overview

SKED Reminders allow your office to automate appointment notifications and follow-ups, helping to reduce no-shows and streamline communication. You can customize messages, attach links, and time your reminders for optimal patient engagement.

✉️ Creating a New Reminder

To create a new reminder, click the Compose button or choose from a pre-made reminder in the SKED Templates folder.

In this example, we will use the New Patient Appointment Reminder template.

After opening the template:

  • Choose which appointment types will receive the reminder and move them to the Selected Appointment Types column.

  • Next, choose when you want the reminder to go out.

    • 1 Day Before will send the reminder 24 hours prior to the appointment time.

In the Compose Message section, you can edit the reminder to fit the needs of your office.

Be sure to review the Email Message as well.

If you have your new patient paperwork attached to your website, simply copy the URL and paste it into your message.

When you’re ready to enable your reminder, check the box next to Enabled and click Save.

Helpful Reminder Options

Many offices find the following reminder options beneficial:

  • A 24-hour reminder before the appointment.

  • A 1- or 2-hour reminder to help prevent no-shows.

These additional reminders can help ensure patients don’t miss their scheduled visits and improve overall appointment attendance.

📅 Missed Appointment Reminder

In addition to reminders before an appointment, many practices use a Missed Appointment Reminder for patients who miss their scheduled visit.

You can insert a link to the SKED app directly into this message, allowing patients to easily reschedule their missed appointment through the app.

📲 SKED Registration Email

The SKED Registration Email is another valuable recurring message.

We recommend automating this message to send 1 hour before a patient’s new patient orientation appointment.

This ensures the patient can create their SKED app account when they arrive for their appointment.

Key Takeaways

  • Use SKED reminders to automate appointment communications and reduce no-shows.

  • Customize messages with links, timing, and email content for your office’s needs.

  • Utilize Missed Appointment Reminders and Registration Emails to improve engagement and streamline the patient experience.
