Advanced Email Editor
Introduction
The Advanced Email Editor is a visual, block-based email builder built into SKED that allows offices to create polished, branded emails, complete with custom layouts, colors, images, buttons, and more. It's available as an option alongside the standard email editor, so offices can choose whichever experience fits their needs.
The Advanced Email Editor appears when composing email content for:
One Time Messages (Messaging > One Time Messages)
Automated Messages, including Appt-Time Reminders, Set-Time Reminders, Birthdays, and Reactivations (Messaging > Automated Messages)
To access it, navigate to the Email tab inside the message composer, then click the "Advanced email" link in the top-right corner of the Message body section.

Once opened, the Advanced Email Editor displays a full-screen builder with a live canvas on the left and a panel of tools on the right.

Building Your Email
Adding Sections
Sections define the layout of each row in your email. To add one, click the Blocks panel icon (grid icon) in the top toolbar, then drag a section from the right panel onto your canvas.
Available section types:
1 Column — A single full-width content area
2 Columns — Side-by-side content areas
3 Columns — Three equal content areas
Hero — A large, prominent banner-style section
Hero example:
Wrapper — A container for grouping sections together. This is an element that has multiple sections, so you can edit the background, add images, and text.
Example of completed wrapper element:
Adding Content Blocks
Once a section is on the canvas, drag content blocks into it from the Content section of the right panel:
Text — Add and format body copy, headings, and inline links
Button — Add a clickable call-to-action button
Image — Upload or link to an image
Divider — Add a horizontal rule to separate sections
Group Social — Add a row of social media icons
Spacer — Add vertical spacing between elements
Navbar — Add a navigation bar with links
Raw — Insert custom HTML or MJML code directly
Social (inside a Social block):
Social Element — Add an individual social media icon and link inside a Group Social block
Navbar (inside a Navbar block):
Navbar Link — Add an individual link inside a Navbar block
Editing Elements
Click any element on the canvas to select it. The right panel will switch to the Style panel, where you can adjust appearance settings like background color, padding, font size, alignment, and more depending on the element type.
Use the action buttons that appear when an element is selected to move it up, reposition it, duplicate it, or delete it.
Previewing Your Email
Use the Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile icons at the top of the toolbar to preview how your email will render on different devices before sending.
Click the Preview (eye) icon for a full rendered preview of the final email as your clients will see it.
Saving and Reusing Templates
If you've built an email design you'd like to reuse, click "Save as template" in the top-right corner. Give the template a name and save it.
To load a saved template into the editor, click "Browse templates" and select the one you'd like to use.
Tip: SKED automatically saves a backup of your work as you edit. You'll see a "Backup saved" confirmation at the top of the editor so you know your progress is safe.
Importing MJML or HTML
The Advanced Email Editor supports importing MJML and HTML templates via the Import button. MJML/HTML are email markup languages that simplify building responsive emails. If your office uses custom MJML/HTML templates, you can paste them directly into the code view.
Important: Opt-Out Link Requirement
All emails sent through SKED must include an opt-out link. To add an opt out link, use the placeholder {x} function in any text box and choose Opt Out Url:
If your email design is missing one, you'll see a warning at the bottom of the editor:
"Your email message doesn't have an opt-out link/url. This message cannot be sent without one!"
If you see this warning, make sure your design includes the opt-out link placeholder. The easiest way to ensure this is to keep the "Use SKED Frame" option enabled in the standard editor — or, if building a fully custom email in the Advanced Editor, manually include the opt-out link in your design.
FAQs
Does the Advanced Email Editor replace the standard editor?
No. The Advanced Email Editor is an additional option. You can continue using the standard editor at any time — simply compose your email in the Message body area without clicking "Advanced email."
Where do I find the Advanced Email Editor?
Open any One Time Message or Automated Message, click the Email tab in the Compose Message section, then click "Advanced email" in the top-right corner of the Message body area.
Can I save my designs and reuse them?
Yes! Click "Save as template" in the top-right corner of the editor to save your design. You can load it again any time by clicking "Browse templates."
What file types can I import?
The Advanced Email Editor supports MJML imports via the HTML code view. If you'd like to use raw HTML, use the standard email editor instead.
Why can't I send my email?
If you see a warning that your email is missing an opt-out link, you'll need to add one before the message can be sent. This is required for all emails sent through SKED.
Does SKED auto-save my work?
Yes. SKED automatically saves a backup of your work as you edit. Look for the "Backup saved" indicator at the top of the editor to confirm your progress has been saved.
