What support do Student Welcome Groups receive?

Student Welcome Groups are given training and support

Student Welcome Group members will receive the following support:

  • Training (online and in-person), including guidance on:

    • Overview of humanitarian issues

    • Resettlement support, including support with registering with key services, linking to refugee-specific supports, how to maintain healthy boundaries, job seeking, finding longer-term accommodation.

    • Working together as a group

    • Settlement planning

    • Fundraising

  • Support from the University focal point to develop a plan and resources on campus

  • Links with community resources and contacts

  • Materials for settlement planning with RSSP student/s

  • Materials to use for fundraising and social media promotion

  • Membership of the Community Hub, run by Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia, providing advice and crowd sharing guidance to SWGs

  • Co-curricular recognition (university dependent)
