What Documents Do I Need to Open an Account?

Documents to open a Slay Markets account: government-issued photo ID (passport, driver's license) plus separate proof of address (utility bill, bank statement, lease within 90 days), upload steps, rejection reasons.

The two documents required to open a Slay Markets account, the requirements each must meet, how to upload them, and why documents are sometimes rejected.

To open a Slay Markets account you need two separate documents: a government-issued photo ID (such as a passport, US state-issued driver's license, or national identity card) and a separate document confirming your current residential address (such as a utility bill, bank statement, or lease dated within the last 90 days). Both must be valid and current at the time you submit your application. Photo ID and address documents must be uploaded as JPG, PNG, or PDF, maximum 10 MB each.

Important: a passport alone does not satisfy both requirements. A passport meets the photo ID requirement but does not contain a residential address, so you must upload a second, separate address verification document even if you submitted a passport as your photo ID.

Which photo ID does Slay Markets accept?

For the photo ID required to open a Slay Markets account, you must provide one of the following government-issued documents:

  • Passport (any country, must not be expired)

  • Driver's license (US state-issued)

  • State-issued identification card

  • National identity card (government-issued)

Your Slay Markets photo ID must meet these requirements:

  • The document must be government-issued.

  • It must not be expired.

  • Your full legal name must be clearly visible and legible.

  • Upload a clear, flat scan or photo — not a photo of a screen.

Which address verification documents does Slay Markets accept?

The second document required to open a Slay Markets account is a separate address verification document that shows your name and current residential address. A passport alone does not satisfy address verification because it does not contain a residential address. Slay Markets accepts the following documents for address verification:

  • Utility bill (gas, electric, water, or internet service)

  • Bank or credit union statement

  • Residential lease or rental agreement

  • Mortgage statement

Your Slay Markets address verification document must meet these requirements:

  • Must be dated within the last 90 days.

  • Must show your full legal name and current residential address.

  • PO Box addresses are not accepted for address verification.

  • The address on the document must match the address on your application.

How do I upload my documents to Slay Markets?

Opening a Slay Markets account requires uploading two documents through your Account Dashboard: your government-issued photo ID and your separate address verification document. Upload both as JPG, PNG, or PDF, maximum 10 MB each. Follow these steps to upload each document:

  1. Log in to your Account Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Documents or the Upload Documents section.

  3. Select the document type you are uploading (photo ID or address verification).

  4. Upload your file. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, or PDF. Maximum file size: 10 MB per file.

  5. Confirm the upload was received. You will see the document listed under Pending Review.

The Slay Markets New Accounts team reviews uploaded documents within 1 to 2 business days. You can check the status of your documents in the Documents section of your Account Dashboard.

If a banner in your Account Dashboard still shows "Upload Required" after you have uploaded your documents, the banner may persist until a reviewer processes the upload. Verify that your document appears under the Documents section in your dashboard.

Why are Slay Markets account documents rejected?

Slay Markets account documents (photo ID and address verification) are most often rejected for one of these reasons:

  • The image is blurry, cropped, or has glare that makes text unreadable.

  • The document is expired (photo ID) or older than 90 days (address document).

  • The name on the document does not match the name on your application.

  • A passport was submitted for both photo ID and address verification — a second document is required.

  • The address on the document does not match the address on your application.

If your Slay Markets document was rejected, check the rejection note in your Account Dashboard for the specific reason, then upload a corrected document that meets the photo ID and address verification requirements above.

What employment and income information will I be asked for?

During the application you are asked about your employment status and approximate annual income. This is used for suitability assessment and is required to complete the application.

No employment documentation needs to be uploaded. You enter this information directly in the application form — no pay stubs, tax returns, or employer letters are required. For the full list of questions and why they are asked, see Employment and Income Questions During Your Application.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I use a passport for both photo ID and address verification?

A: No. A passport satisfies the photo ID requirement but does not satisfy address verification, because it does not contain your residential address. You must upload a separate utility bill, bank statement, or lease for address verification.

Q: My address document is older than 90 days. What can I use instead?

A: Contact your bank or utility provider for a current statement. Most banks allow you to download a statement from their website or app. The address document must be dated within the last 90 days.

Q: I do not have a US address. Can I still apply?

A: Yes. Slay Markets accepts applications from clients in many countries. If you have a non-US address, you may use address documents issued in your country of residence, provided they meet the requirements above (full legal name, current residential address, dated within the last 90 days, no PO Box). For country-specific eligibility and any additional documentation, see International Applicants.

Q: What file formats and sizes are accepted for document uploads?

A: Photo ID and address verification documents must be uploaded as JPG, PNG, or PDF, with a maximum file size of 10 MB per file. Upload a clear, flat scan or photo of the original document — not a photo of a screen.
