What the all-in rate is, how it is calculated, and how to use it to find your true break-even on any trade.
The all-in rate is the total cost you pay per contract, per side, when you trade. It combines three separate fees: your Slay Markets commission (set by your plan), the exchange fee (set by the exchange), and the clearing/NFA fee. Knowing your all-in rate lets you calculate the exact break-even point on any trade.
What are the three components of the all-in rate?
Every Slay Markets trade carries three fees, all charged per contract per side:
Fee | What it is | Who sets it | Same on both plans? |
Commission | The Slay Markets fee for executing the trade | Slay Markets — varies by plan (Slay Free vs Slay Pro) | No — changes with your plan |
Exchange fee | The fee charged by the exchange (CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX) | The relevant exchange | Yes — fixed per product |
Clearing / NFA fee | A flat clearing and regulatory fee | NinjaTrader Clearing, LLC — $0.19 per contract | Yes — $0.19 on all products |
All three fees are charged per contract, per side. A round turn (entry plus exit) means all three are charged twice.
How do I calculate the all-in rate?
All-in rate per side = commission + exchange fee + $0.19 clearing fee
MNQ on Slay Free: $0.39 commission + $0.37 exchange + $0.19 clearing = $0.95 per side
MNQ on Slay Pro: $0.29 commission + $0.37 exchange + $0.19 clearing = $0.85 per side
ES on Slay Free: $1.29 commission + $1.40 exchange + $0.19 clearing = $2.88 per side
ES on Slay Pro: $0.99 commission + $1.40 exchange + $0.19 clearing = $2.58 per side
These four are worked examples, not the full schedule. For the complete all-in rate table covering every Slay Markets product, see Commissions, Exchange Fees, and NFA Fees.
How do I convert the all-in rate into a round turn cost?
A complete trade has two sides — an entry and an exit — and the all-in rate applies to both. Double the per-side rate to get the round turn cost:
Product | Plan | Per side | Round turn (× 2) |
MNQ (Micro Nasdaq) | Slay Free | $0.95 | $1.90 |
MNQ (Micro Nasdaq) | Slay Pro | $0.85 | $1.70 |
ES (E-mini S&P 500) | Slay Free | $2.88 | $5.76 |
ES (E-mini S&P 500) | Slay Pro | $2.58 | $5.16 |
How do I find my break-even in ticks?
Your trade must move far enough to cover the round turn cost before it is profitable:
Break-even ticks = round turn cost ÷ tick value
MNQ on Slay Free: $1.90 round turn ÷ $0.50 per tick = 3.8 ticks. You need a 4-tick move just to break even.
ES on Slay Free: $5.76 round turn ÷ $12.50 per tick = 0.46 ticks. Less than one tick to break even.
Micro contracts have lower absolute fees but a higher fee-to-tick-value ratio than full-size contracts, which is why position sizing and trade selection matter more in micros. Tick values for every product are in Tick Size and Tick Value by Product.
Why do exchange fees vary by product?
Each exchange (CME, CBOT, NYMEX, COMEX) sets its own fee schedule per product. Agricultural products (ZC, ZS, ZW) have higher exchange fees than equity index products, and cryptocurrency futures have the highest exchange fees in the Slay Markets product suite.
Exchange fees are set by the exchanges and change periodically — always verify current rates at slaymarkets.com/fees.
Frequently asked questions about the Slay Markets all-in rate
Q: Why does my commission rate not cover the full cost of a trade?
A: The commission is only one of three components. The exchange fee and the $0.19 clearing fee are separate and always added. Even on Slay Pro you pay the exchange fee and the clearing fee on every contract.
Q: Is the all-in rate the same for my entry and my exit?
A: Yes. The same all-in rate applies to every side of a trade — entry and exit are charged identically.
Q: Where do I find the all-in rate for a product not listed here?
A: See Commissions, Exchange Fees, and NFA Fees, which carries the complete all-in rate table for every Slay Markets product across both plans.
All-in rate = commission + exchange fee + $0.19 clearing fee, charged per contract per side. Double it for a round turn, then divide the round turn cost by the tick value to find your break-even in ticks. The complete per-product rate table lives in Commissions, Exchange Fees, and NFA Fees.
