The Problem
You have the Helium Wallet app installed and you're onboarding your HL100 with the Smart Harvest Onboarding Web App.
After pressing Link Wallet, or Finish hotspot onboarding:
You keep being asked to install the Helium Wallet app, then read on
Why does this happen?
The Smart Harvest Onboarding Web App uses a deep-link to open the Helium Wallet app. The deep-link has information that lets the Helium Wallet app know what the Onboarding Web App is requesting.
There are two different deep-links:
To link your Helium Wallet to the Onboarding Web App
To confirm onboarding of your Hotspot
From time to time, it looks like the Helium Wallet App is not able to recognize the deep-link. Instead of the desired page within the app, the user is redirects to a page that directs them to install the app.
It also appears that some mobile browsers do not support deep-links, like the Samsung Browser
The Solution
This sometimes happens after the Helium Wallet app is freshly installed.
A few tips:
Try restarting your phone and trying onboarding again - this usually gets the Helium Wallet app back into a state where it can recognize and act on deep-links
If you're using an iPhone, use the Safari browser for onboarding
If you're using Android, check to see if the "Download the Helium Wallet App" page has a small Helium icon in the address bar. Tap that Helium icon button to get the deep-link to work properly:
