Running a system test could help determine if there is an issue with heating or cooling. Before starting the system, take note of the residents’ set points so they can be returned to their preferences after the test.
While the test is running, check the temperature of the air coming through the vents with an infrared thermometer, if possible, to ensure the unit is doing what’s expected.
Do NOT run a test for longer than ten minutes as this can cause damage to the HVAC system.
Performing a System Test:
To perform a system test on the Honeywell T6 Thermostat, follow these steps:

For heat and cool tests, tap the + and - buttons to activate each stage of equipment
The clock is used as a timer and the Heat On and Cool On indicators will display while the system test is running
For the fan test, use the < or > buttons to turn the fan on and off
If the system does not turn on in four minutes, stop the test and check the wiring behind the thermostat to ensure proper and secure connections
